It's a Stealth NXT.

I read a fair amount before jumping in. In head to heads vs the Ravin, seems like guys may prefer the Ravin's trigger, de-cocking ability, overall balance and feel. The 10 point may win out on noise (lack of), sticking with the rail system, and, I dunno, maybe company dependability? I think they're probably both superb weapons. I feel like my trigger is really good. Has some creep. I'm used to shotgun triggers.

Decent night in the stand for deer movement. Between the wife and I we saw 35 with 11 being bucks. All the bucks were small with this being the biggest. He walked under my wife's stand.

The coyotes moved into my place over the last week. Bad timing for gun opener. A local guy is going to trap on my property after deer season ends. He uses pocket gophers as bait. I plowed under the last 6 or so acres of brome grass along the road this summer. He stopped me as I was coming in from bow hunting and asked if he could trap pocket gophers. He got 68 of them in 2 weeks! We had already trapped over 100 this spring ourselves

In my happy place for gun opener down our way. First dilemma was passing up hogs rooting roadbed to my pond on way to stand. Within 15 minutes of sitting, 3 deer have run by and "Son of Bo / Belle" played broadside statue for 5 minutes at about 60 yards. Spike buck hanging out in back corner of pic -- not sure if visible... and "Son" chowing on clover in small clover plot behind primary plot... hear some footsteps to left now. Life is good. :-)

BigBend is that a golf course your sitting on :emoji_slight_smile:
Just REAL tender green growth thanks to two perfectly timed rains, Big Snow Man. Dealing with Hurricane Michael cleanup delayed me planting until Oct 21. Got one good rain a day or two after planting followed by another nice rain this past week. :emoji_thumbsup:

Had a good plan tonight, or so I thought. Sat on a bean field and pulled a chip from a camera by the stand. 2 shooters coming out to the beans an hour before dark the past few days. Confidence high. Until the combine showed up to harvest that field at 345. Switched stands saw 3 does and a lil buck.

Ended up being a really fun sit tonight...though I only took shots with the camera.

REALLY tempting 9 point was first up chasing a doe into the plot I was hunting but I didn't have the camera out yet and didn't want to give me position away trying to get it out.

"Lucky" (buck I named for his luck in having one side quite compromised) quickly tempted me just as I thought he would (Murphy's law). Still had lots of good daylight when he came out to browse with a small skittish spike on his heels.

Shortly after "Lucky" came out a buck I named "Split Ear" (for obvious reasons) came out too. He was still hanging around with does last spring and smaller than them, making me think he was 1 1/2 then and just 2 1/2 now. If right, I hope he can stay alive a couple of more years just to see how he shapes up. Looks like he's already getting into the fighting spirit with the few neck scars starting.

Shortly before dark, "Lucky" headed out and "Split Ear" followed him, keeping about 20 yards distance between one another. Had one big buck skirt the back end of the plot I was hunting and looked like he could have been an older shooter but didn't slow long enough for me to glass and him and confirm.

I've held my stand with combines running. Never paid off, but I tried ;)

My stand this morning is the kitchen table with bacon and eggs. Rained all night long and suppose to rain all day today.

Rain again Tuesday and then the weather drops the rest of the week with highs in the 30's and lows in the teens.

We've been seeing good deer movement so far just nothing we want to shoot.

How is he trapping them? Thats amazing. I have some traps but i can't catch diddly.

Day 1 of 12. Nothing like starting things off with a skunk. Nowhere to go but up. Weather coming in on Thursday should help.

Nice. A lot of bucks are going to die the next 5 days.

From what I have seen the prediction of a "trickle rut" is holding true. We have had nothing but rain the past few days. When it breaks, look out.

Pouring here too. Rained yesterday too. Gonna head for camp after voting today - I hope the rain breaks up there. A couple drier days in the tree stands could get very busy after all this rain. Good luck to you that are out hunting these next few days - or will be.

I’m not sure how he traps them. All we talked about was the pocket gophers he uses. He did say that coyotes won’t touch meat from an animal that has received antibiotics or even vaccines.
A few years ago we tried using an entire cow carcass with internal organs and everything that had been butchered. The coyotes never touched it all winter.
