Live from the stand thread

Never recovered the buck I shot Saturday afternoon. Didn't hunt again as I spent all day Sunday looking for him. Hope it was a non fatal hit and he is live and well on his feet somewhere.

It happens to all of us bueller... Unfortunately.

I hope you get a trail cam pic of him soon.

Ditto what John-W-WI said.

If the hit proves fatal, not sure how easy it is to keep an eye out on the place you hunt but buzzards flying low and in bigger numbers than usual helped me find one that gave me the slip. Either way hope you get a quick answer as it's the not knowing time frame that's the toughest.

Late to the party here, to me that looks nothing more than a muscle shot. Not much on the arrow other than pieces of meat (what it looks like to me looking at a picture anyway) My first thought was hind quarter. If it was good left to right i guess i'd say high and you hit the loin and the deer is fine.

I also assume it was a muscle hit at this point. Don't want to derail the live from the stand thread any longer. That magic time of year has arrived, let's hear some more success stories!

Best wishes to you Bueller. Sorry it didn’t work out but we’ve all been there.

Finally made it out Sunday for a quick afternoon sit, didn’t go as planned. Swirling winds busted me about 2/3rds of the way into my stand, as two does blew out right past my setup, picking up a couple of more deer as they crashed by my stand. They were really close to my tree, so I probably wouldn’t have gotten past all those eyes anyway. I was happy to see that the 60 acres of soybeans north of the woods was gone, replaced by winter wheat. I like it when the neighbors plant winter food for my deer!

Seen a doe a 2 fawns, I guess you can add black spruce to the trees they like to rub

I was out on Friday evening, had a nice lonely large doe come in broadside at 18yds, pulled back and let it fly right over her shoulder. My adjustable site was set at 30 yards rather then 20. Damn old eyes cant see the numbers on the adjustable pin without my reading glasses on. It was a clean miss.

Sat this evening on the finger edge of a bean field. Saw no deer but it was fun anyhow.

Good luck! Hopefully that dude full of stickers does indeed poke his nose out for you....

Hey Bill, are you in NEMO? I'm headed out Friday morning through gun opener. Have a scouting report for me?

I'll be there late tomorrow night. Brothers been there for a week just picking at the edges. Weather is kind of constant :(.

Brother and the cams are reporting most good movement is after dark or in the AM until about 8:00.
Storm front forecast for late Haloween evening. That's the afternoon some will hit the dirt. Or so I'm convincing myself.

No tag for me so I'm not going to stink up any good stands but I'll get out some before the 10th with a camera and a doe/turkey tag. I'm looking forward to it, hoping to sit in some obscure places that we don't normally sit just see what goes on where we don't look.

The trail looked like my ballot! My 71 year old father in law shot his first crossbow buck, or deer for that matter, tonight. Never hunted the archery season until last year. Pretty neat to share it with him.

And age doesn't matter when it comes to your first deer. He wasn't as giddy as when my son shot his first buck but it was close. :emoji_relaxed:

Saw 11 does and 6 bucks tonight. Some were multiple visitors. Gave a pass to this guy tonight. He took his sweet time going past me. He had to stop every 10 steps to scrape and rub stuff5F7B8EBB-2974-42A9-818B-D35500C3FB81.jpeg
