Live from the stand thread

Nice evening hunt. Temps were a little warm as it was in the 40's, but made for a comfy sit. Saw 16 doe, one 7 pt, two 8 pt, and a 10 pt. The 10 was a 1.5 or 2.5 with a good future. The others were mediocre 3.5s. The one in the pic was really lame and had to stop every few steps and rest. The other 8 also had a wound on his shoulder. The tail of the rut really seemed extra hard on the bucks this year.

I just like taking them to show people what good hunting habitat looks like.

Maple syrup lines I believe. Been a few properties in WI I've seen with a similar setup.

Yep. It's a joy to hunt in. lmao

Not just the fun of trying to navigate through and the over, under, over, under.... but all those bold horizontal lines really throws off your ability to spot deer in the woods.

Not live anymore. I was sitting in the blind trying to post this picture. The caption was supposed to be The last hour of the last day hoping for a dumb one to walk into the food plot.

Last sit of the 2024 Missouri firearms season as the second antlerless season winds down. It’s hot, like early October today. I’m in my stand with tepid coffee, moldy smelling carpet, and a swirling wind that pretty much sums up my season so far.

Back to the bow to fill those unused buck tags. The target boy deers are still showing up. IMG_5832.jpeg

2 more down tonight. Shot the first one and watched it go down. Couple minutes later I see one running from where the first went down. Thinking the 1st got up I pulled up and shot. She turned and went back, so I shot again. Down.
Got down and went to where I saw the first go down... Shit, I shot 2. Didn't really want 2.more but not being sure it wasn't the first I felt I had to shoot to make sure.

My other suggestion is wind stopper clothing. Nothing saps the warmth out of you like a cold wind. I'm going to ask for a pair of pants for christmas. I have a jacket and beanie already.
Agree 100% on wind stopper clothes, PatinPa. Huge difference when it's cold & windy. I love mine.

I’m doing a half-hearted muzzleloader hunt this morning (too lazy to clean and load one 😊). This may be the last time I go out this year. Oddly enough, I just passed the same 135 inch eight point that I did on my first muzzleloader hunt back in October. He just worked a scrape at the edge of a food plot and then went back into the woods. Less than a minute after he left a small buck came up behind him and worked the same scrape.

Actually, more than hoping to shoot a deer, I was hoping to get a crack at another one of those coyotes.

Let me know when you want me to bring thermals up and we will really work on them.

If I have another litter of them raise at my 20 acre place, I may be calling you.
