It was slow on my place last weekend, only saw 2 spikes and a doe on an all day sit, as well as this hawk (Rough Legged Hawk?). Hoping for more luck this weekend that does won't be on lockdown
I made the move another 75 yards to get closer to where the big one came out last night. Had a doe and button come out around 4:20 followed by another doe and fawn a few minutes later. They fed around in the pasture in front of me for an hour, then all of a sudden they took off back to the west end of the pasture and looked back. I looked up and saw him come out @ ~ 5:25. It was this guy. He is really nice but we think he is only 3.5, maybe 4.5 and decided he needed another year. It was hard to pass him up, but if he can make it, he will be an absolute tank next year.
Pretty much. The odd thing is not far down the road it wasn't so bad. I hope that helps with the bounce back. We're hunting, it's rut time, never know where one will come from.

Could bring some new genetics to the area as well. I've done some reading on EHD and it sounds like some herds are more resistant to it than others. Basically they've adapted over time to only fall sick but not sick enough to die.
Sucks for you Bill, best of luck with your season.
Wind is light and variable here and I should have just sat on the back deck this morning. Instead I went out and had deer coming in twice, wind switch and off they go. Just picked up movement so no idea what they were. About to get down and pick another tree for tonight.
Two bucks so far this morning. Had a 2 y/o 9 pt in range. I think the other buck was a 145ish ten that we have quite a few pictures of but he was well out of range.
