Hunting the backyard, nothing. Some smoke from a wildfire on the NY/NJ border area. Pretty close to where I have a rowboat on a city reservoir.

He worked a scrape right in front of my blind at 29 yards, kept the tree between us. Started going south, I drew, 1 more step and I had a clear shot. Instead turned a bit east into the tall grass. Gave me 1 shot there but wouldn't stop. After I took that pick he takes the trees in that stand for about 5 minutes.

I'm sure it got your adrenaline going!

I didn’t shoot coyotes Saturday morning but this morning one came through running a fawn at full speed. When it came back by I gave it an attitude adjustment. Probably ruined my hunt but I feel good.

PS - passed a high 130s 8 point yesterday afternoon - new deer.

With Chuck and the boys coming, I'm at the old farm this morning.
Only does and a spike Saturday, no shooters, much rain.
Went to church with my youngest and his family yesterday, but back at it today.
Good luck y'all.

In a stand that looks good on an aerial , but never has produced ( back side of a bluff) giving it one last chance before giving up on it. I feel the bucks would much rather travel my mowed trail then inside the cover closer to the bluff

Hunted Saturday AM / PM and saw one scrub buck. Same stand Sunday AM and saw 3 different bucks including my shooter. Unfortnately he must have picked up a does scent on the way and turned up the hill in the thicker area not giving me a shot. Coming back from the store I saw him running a doe just down the road in the same area. Decided not to hunt the PM in case he was still in there which was probably a mistake other than it was still raining @ 4. Watched 3 does off my back deck Sunday PM while cooking dinner and had a decent 8 come in and stary chasing them around. Killed a yote this morning (first one I have seen in a while) and am kind of wishing I would have let her go. Wind started switching and still is, so not sure about tonight. Have the rest of the week to sit and watch them.

I’m seeing something I have never seen in deer season. The insane hot temps along with recent rains are causing waste soybeans to germinate.

Laundry is all done. It's 77 degrees, time to slip in in some shorts, a t-shirt and flip flops...

I may actually wear my boots.
That sounds absolutely wonderful. It's warmer than usual for this time of year here and it's bearable until the wind picks up. That's usually what sends me back to the house early. The deer don't move much here until the temps get down below about 50 degrees. Windy days I hardly ever see anything anyways. This year the vikings are worth watching so far so that's a little extra incentive to go in for lunch anyway. Saw 0 deer the first day. Second day they were all over in the evening but not a one with a rack. Can't go out tonight because I have to replace my mailbox due to vandalism last Friday so I'm about positive this would have been the best day to hunt. Murphy's law

I'm hunting in my pajamas. Got down from the tree at 11 to prepare for shotgun season. Had to cut down some trees to get better shooting lanes. My dirt bike got another flat and I got a good locust thorn in my foot! Those trees piss me off so much!

I decided to hunt the edge of my pasture looking into a hardwood bottom. Wind was perfect for this spot, but didn’t see anything until I decided to get down. Turned around to pack up and there were two does about 70 yards out. Let them feed over the hill and waited another 30 minutes after the last time I saw them. Got down and started slipping out around the edge of the pasture. Got almost to my route out and here they come on a string straight to me. Sat down and let them walk by me at 20 yards back into the woods. This is why I hate staying until dark. Stayed out there an extra 1.5 hours to avoid spooking them.
