That sounds absolutely wonderful. It's warmer than usual for this time of year here and it's bearable until the wind picks up. That's usually what sends me back to the house early. The deer don't move much here until the temps get down below about 50 degrees. Windy days I hardly ever see anything anyways. This year the vikings are worth watching so far so that's a little extra incentive to go in for lunch anyway. Saw 0 deer the first day. Second day they were all over in the evening but not a one with a rack. Can't go out tonight because I have to replace my mailbox due to vandalism last Friday so I'm about positive this would have been the best day to hunt. Murphy's law

Last morning archery sit then headed home Saw a buck cruising around 6:30 am not expecting alot. My clover food plots are starting to take, not sure if it's worth it when I'm competing with my neighbors 150 acres of cover crop

Everything seemed perfect this morning. Sat until 11:30 and didn't see a thing. Didn't get pics on any cameras either. May just sit on the back deck tonight and relax.

My cams were dead and it was gorgeous up here too

About to get another shower (75 here) and slip in right behind the house. May shoot a doe tonight...

Deer around my place would prefer a small hidden plot over 150 acres any day.

Had a fawn then a doe with two fawns come through. Maybe tomorrow

Saw a young doe probably 1.5 YO possibly 2.5 that came out by herself this morning. Not enough jerky on that girl to make it worth the squeeze. Finally got some cooler temps (50's) but the wind came with it. Rain most of tomorrow, so who knows. Will sit on the near edge of the pasture toninght. I really need to plant some of it next year, but that is my primary path to all other hunting spots.

Hope I don't regret this decision. Passed a decent 8 tonight. Would have been a 20 yard chip shot. Had the bow up, ready to draw and decided to just watch. Been a long time since I passed a deer like that. Good 2 1//2 year old 8. After seeing the big guy on Sunday I may be a 1 year horn whore....lol

Does make excellent table fare. Save the tag for the big boy.

Would have to see a doe to shoot one. Been 2 weeks since I saw one. Nothing but bucks here

That’s why you aren’t seeing any does. They are afraid to come out. I went from seeing 15 does a hunt in October to 3-4 the past two weekends. I promise they haven’t gotten shot

Yeah I know, it's just weird for here. Never have gone this long without seeing does or fawns at least. Nothing. Closest I've seen was Saturday evening I thought it was a doe but it was a nubby.
Usually this property is doe and fawn Central

Had a little button head run in under me to be the first one on the pasture. He fed in front of me for 20 minutes before feeding off. Saw a larg bodied deer in the NE corner of the pasture about 250 yards out at last light as I was about to get down. Saw significant headgear and it was one of those that you see with the naked eye and know you don't need the binos to confirm if it is a shooter. Unfortunately, I did not ave a shot opportunity. Will shift a little more in that direction tomorrow after the rain.

Welcome to the dark side. It's not so bad. 😂

Same here. I was joking with my buddies that I have a buck factory. Only problem is it’s mostly button bucks, spikes, and small baskets. Maybe three 140 class I’d like see make it until next year. Also 3-4 lopsided racks that I’m convinced are genetics. Had one lopsided about 6 years ago that friends convinced me was not genetics, but they seem to be multiplying. If nothing really nice shows up, I might take a lopsided for meat instead of a doe. Really feel the buck/doe ratio is way off and would like more pregnant does for next year.

I love the non typical racks, good luck on that.
The does, I don't think they're gone, and I'm not really seeing any more bucks than normal years, maybe fewer but so far(knock on wood) bigger than other years, always one of 2 big ones but this year it seems every Nick I see is a decent outside the ears 8 or better. The does I think as was said in an earlier post, the bucks pushed them out of here. Hopefully we will get some back for gun season.

I like non-typical also. But these are beyond that with a spike or so on the left side, and a full rack on the right side.
