Live from the stand thread

I had 2 does, and a little buck this afternoon. I heard one come in at dark, but never saw it, and I had to spook the deer to get out of stand. I hate doing that. I whipped a stick in the plot by the deer.

7:25 this morning on the tail of a doe.

Atta boy ST, congrats buddy

I hunted last night and still in the stand this morning. I think we are a week away from some good movement. Had my xbow crosshairs on young bucks both sits at under 40 yds but no older ones showing yet. Young ones doing half hearted chasing.

Had a good sit at my house this morning on the far edge of my food plot. There were 6 does in the plot at first light and then a buck came and crashed the party. Think he was a younger one based on body size. Had a good one on cam overnight chasing as well (within 10 yards of the stand I sat in). Saw 9 total in a little over an hour and a half....IMG_7668[1].PNG

I came in as it was get light due to the fog and wind I set up on a logging road as an observation stand about 150 yds from where I really want to be . Set up my stool and put on the ghillie suit and have had 2 little bucks within 10yds the one was probably 10-12 feet and didn't know I was there. IMG_20221102_085043476.jpg

It’s been a rough week to hunt the rut, upper 60’s-lower 70-s the last 4-5 days. But the deer have still been around. I have had deer in my plot every afternoon, and even in my plot already at 3 a couple times. Today, it’s 73 degrees and windy as hell. Been rocking and rolling in my stand. Hoping I don’t get rocked to sleep. Had a small buck I had to chase from my orchard when I got here to get into stand. He didn’t want to leave. I was trying to make noise, and hide so he didn’t see me, but he waited until I walked to about 20 feet from him before he took off. I videod it, but no idea how to post a video. Nice day, to be on a beach, or relaxing in a boat fishing. Not really rut hunting weather.

A couple days ago I was out and it was really quiet, you could hear anything moving in the woods, so I was playing on my phone rather then looking around, I get a notification from a camera in my food plot and look up and this guy is looking at me in my tree stand. I walked back before dark that night. 6764E10F-5FB9-4CA1-9C28-99534624518A.jpeg

It’s so warm out I shot a ground hog in the back yard today…

Went to me spot today…..

another rig parked

the feet on one of their ponies was huge…..figured they were packing one out.

so I went down a different trail. My saddle mule was really fresh…I am thankful really…it had a severe founder episode that made him unrideable until now.

I had just crossed some older tracks….thought about tying off but the mule was really fresh….decided to ride on…

jumped a cow elk….got off, tied off the pack mule…got my scope outta my one sided saddle bag.

should have got the carbine out first…..

when I stood up from loosining the scope mounts

another cow was staring at the mule at 40 yards…..

the carbine has iron sights and I had checked zero this morning….they were good.

A good friend told me years ago….the last thing on your mule and the first thing off is your firearm.

I conclude he is correct!

OOPS!

The elk were right by that fallen log….40 yards,

Went back up the mountain yesterday.

Me and my saddle mule Dink.

Found the two cows fresh tracks but they took me farther away from where I tied off Dink.

Ended up tracking this lone Bull…he was torturing saplings as he ambled on.

However the snow came on ….so I bailed…thanks to my Rhino, I didn’t have to backtrack myself to find the mule!

Felt lucky to get off the Mountain.

It was a great day!

I think Dink smelled some deer on the trail.

Just imagine if a guy could have hunted with Mr. ED!

Saw one of my shooters today (62 yards away) . He checked the doe bedding group area tried to grunt and snortweeze but he didn't come in. He would walk like 10 steps then just stand for 10 mins. I have to decide if I am going to try and setup 30 yards closer tomorrow .

How about getting tuned into a 60 yard shot?

I am a horrible shot at the moment of truth 30 yards is pushing it for me.... Setup 30 yards closer today .I think I bumped some deer. I also heard grunting. Dam hour shift surprised me! Got to my stand a hour later than excepted.

What R U shooting?

The hour deal snapped me also!

I think you are going to love your new property. Both of those could be booners next year.
Thanks it’s been fun so far. Nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs about the neighbors but so far so good. Also passed on this guy but I shouldn’t have. He just showed up last week for one pic but neighbors have had him for a while. Probably 6.5. Just won’t amount to much. Was too late once I realized who he was. 8th buck this am with 6 of them being mature

Howboutthemdawgs, what kinda spot you hunting today? Sounds like some good action. I still haven't had a chance to get out this year... hopefully soon!

I’m actually hunting a plot with select cut woods around it. It’s a high spot so I generally get consistent winds which helps. The area has held a lot does so it made sense to me.

Man November 6th and still no seat time! You need to remedy that asap
