I found the biggest buck we’ve had on cam the last two years by my parents property on adjacent public last year. He’s been on cameras in a large range the last couple weeks but trying to to catch him back where we first saw him this time last year. Wind is playing games with my emotions though.CDE49A5E-E051-4B2E-A2BC-9FDB7E730D55.jpeg

Slept in this morning son had a thing out of town and on his way he saw a good buck breeding a doe in the middle of a cut corn field. I haven't seen any rut actionat all and watched 2 does feed in the field for an hour last night. This is the time I like to remind myself I really have no idea what I'm doing but damn it I love it. WSW wind tonight so I'm in the field again jumped 2good does right as I made the turn to the field so who knows. Good luck everyone

I decided to sit in a blind, it is good for south west wind, and south wind, west wind, meh. But I figured I maybe able to contain some of my scent in the blind with closing some of the windows. It was this, or sit on the chair watching tv.

I sighted in my bow, it was on at 20-40 yards, so I felt confident enough to go for another try.

So, how do you hunt this wind? Or do you stay home ? Hunt the wind for the prime time?

I sat all day in 40 plus gusts in a fencerow and killed my deer at 11am. Would the movement have been better with low wind sure. I killed my biggest bucks I date when it was 68 in November. I think this time of the year anything goes as far as what could walk by your stand. I hate the term can’t kill them from the couch but during the first half of November truer words have never been spoken. I kill a lot of deer by sitting on the couch but I kill them in November by sitting on the couch in October. Just what works for me.

Had to scratch the deer itch so I went "pheasant hunting" on some local stuff close to the house. Found some smoking hot rubs and was able to learn a better kill set up for next fall.

Piper managed to kick up one old bird.
24inch tailfeather. Has me thinking the spot might be getting overlooked.

I only had a little buck, and he hung out in front of me until dark.

Then as soon as I got in the house, I get this guys picture, but to dark anyhow.

I feel ya little orphan Andy from 4 to 515. 3ptr ran the south end of the field and snuck up on my son at 35 yds and a doe played in the tall grass but never would enter the field. When I was leaving something snorted me but it was to dark to do anything. My dad did see my target buck at 45 yds but never had a shot. Guess I'll try to fun him down next weekend.

I remembered my sites don’t glow well while hunting in a blind. My other bow that has the lighted pins hasn’t been shot in 5 years, I am not about to take it out of its case to sit in a blind. Better winds in the morning, so I will pick a stand.

Didn't see anything this morning, then when firing my practice arrow to uncock my Xbow, the string broke. Guess I'm done. Good thing it's just a week to rifle season.
