Live from the stand thread

Saw about 10 deer...hunting a bluff and had to deal with swirling winds. Sigh was hoping my scent would blow above them. The deer the last hour started acting goofy running around.Hopefully that bodes well for tomorrow.

yeah the wind was wacky this afternoon. I got busted twice that I know of. Probably plenty I don’t. That’s OK. It’s one of my once in a while stands. Haven’t been there in three years. May take a year off.

Had a shooter at 45 yards at around 2:30 It seems the deer arent using the logging trail Iam on , but a side trail. I might have to setup closer tomorrow to that trail.

My rut vacation is coming to an end. I don’t think it’s gonna happen this year. I had my chances, but just couldn’t seal the deal.

How are you liking the farm? Is it a keeper? I made it in the stand at 6:45. A few antlerless deer were on their feet when I came in, but all quiet for now. Hunting over picked corn where a finger points toward another piece of woods. We dont't have much for funnels and this is about as close as it gets.

Liking it so far... it’s got mature deer on it finding spots with good wind has been problematic. I have to work on a food plot strategy next year. Thinking about getting some box blinds for spots that look great but just can’t hunt them due to wind.

You gotta break that place in.

I thought about it about 30 mins later one buck that I couldn’t see cut my track behind me and bounded off (that’s what I get for setting up in the dark and not knowing what tree to setup in). I look to the right and a nice two year is looking at me and gets spooky. This guy just came by me .4B92C249-45F7-475D-B4CF-CEC5D15F9B8D.jpeg

Saw a few this morning, this little squirt was the highlight and broke up the monotony of a cold 30° sit. He has some mass for a 1.5 yo buck, usually just see pixy stick spikes or fork horns at that age here in NY. I made the trail he’s walking on so that made me smile.
Working 2nd shift makes it tough to get up at 4:30 am, but I sneak in a hunt here and there. I’m on vacation for a week after tonight so I’ll be in eat, sleep, hunt mode for the next 9 days.

Very slow afternoon here. Only heard 2 shots and they sounded pretty far off.
Food plot looks great and we ate a few winesap apples i grew this year so it hasn't been a total bust.

Was out last nite ... about 15 does in front of me ... only 2-3 bucks came in but no shooters. About 20 minutes to close a whole pack of yotes started a majoring yipping and howling session about 400 yards south of me. All the deer in the field started moving on.

Today, great conditions until 2:30 ... heavy clouds, wind, rain, then lots of lighting & thunder & more rain ... Nov 12th and we have this type of weather ... :emoji_astonished:
