Cuddelink 2020 GEN 2 version

make sure the SD card is completely empty, nothing on it, You can do this by putting it in a camera and running "clear". Once you do that, add the 1200 file unzipped from the gen2 firmware update.
some computers will rename the file if there is other files on the card this may be your issue.
Thanks for the prompt response, John. The cards are definitely empty when I load the gen 2.

Here is my process for loading the new firmware. Maybe you or someone else will notice some issues and help because I am clearly the one causing this issue.

I begin by downloading the gen 2 firmware from cuddeback.com. The file downloads as a compressed zip file in my downloads folder. I drag and drop (copy and paste) the zipped file into my empty, formatted SD card. I place the SD card into the camera, hit mode until I get to COMMAND, hit more until I get to LOAD F/W, and then hit up twice. The camera says busy for about 2 seconds, and then says CHECK SD.

Any thoughts?

unzip the file , copy ONLY the 1200 file to your sd card and then do the steps you did above to load the firmware. if that doesnt work, we will need to get you on a phone with a tech at cuddeback. you can pm your number to me and ill have someone call you.

That was it! Thanks for all your help!

I have two j-1415s that died. On each one there was one bulb lit in the flash and reading code 43 on the interface. I pulled The batteries till screen went blank, reinserted batteries and nothing. Put new rayovac high energy in them and hooked up the DPB PW-3563 with new rayovacs. Both came up but then one died again displaying code 43 and will not come back up. Also Cuddeback just replaced my K and switched my data plan to the new one however on my report it shows the K camera twice, yes it is the same camera. So first what is the code 43 and second, how do I get the report to show one home camera. Thanks

you should call CS first - if no-one picks up , leave your info or email them and they will call you within a day , they are on limited staff because of covid. error 43 is motion error, if resetting it doesnt work- you will need to send it in for replacement . You can try removing internal batteries from the bad camera and then just plug in the DPB.
Regarding the report issue, wait at least a day or two and see if one of the K's drops off the report.

Thanks for your reply. I did try using just the DPB but still didn’t come up. I’m going to wait a day to make sure the other J doesn’t go back down because that had a code 43 on it also. Or should I just email them to have both sent in?

i would send them both in if the 2nd one wont power up.

it should match the battery pack you have on the j
Having a rough stretch with my cameras, just got one replaced that wouldn't talk on network, another one that is now running away like its in time lapse but its not and another one I checked this camera out last weekend and it was locked up. Wasn't showing up on network and would not do anything. I figured batteries were bad (second time this happened) so I replaced them and made sure all settings were correct including the battery setting. It ran for 3 days and is offline again. This is using the DPB and nothing in the camera. I believe there is an issue with this camera. Pretty sure this camera was a replacement from Cuddeback for a different one that failed.

That is what you need to do , its not instantaneous. at worst it should be inside of 24 hours , you can also add report times to speed it up. Ive used it multiple times with all my cameras and the function works. Have you tried other commands with the same camera and it responded?

I don't believe there is a function for this, but just a suggestion. It would be nice if there was a setting where you could force a picture at the same time everyday. I recently installed one of my cameras in a spot that will get deer pics but it also takes a pic from about 75 yards away of my cabin. After storms roll thru, I will often force a pic for during daylight just to check the place out. I have found it to be nice and I have been pretty much doing it everyday.

you should be able to do this by using time lapse (not prime time) set your delay at 24 hours and also set your camera to schedule a report close to the time you want it. Command the camera to add time lapse to the camera delay roughly BEFORE the report is due. Utilizing the standard time lapse function will allow the camera to continue to work in PIR mode as well.

Thanks, I will try that.

Thanks, I will try that.
what i would do is add the report first and after you get that report at the correct time sent to you at least once , then go back and add the time lapse 24 hour setting about 30 minutes to an hour before the report is due, at the same time- command it to take a picture once. .

the home would need to connect with that remote before the command is administered. This is done either when a report is made or if the remote takes another image and sends it home. The batch one hour only dictates when the home unit transmits images via cell not when it connects to the remotes.

The 24 hr didn't work. I never got a pic, but I am not sure when the change actually made it to the camera. I moved it to 6 hr and I now get one at 10AM and 4PM which works out fine. Maybe since it works now, I could lengthen the delay. Not sure. For some reason right now I am getting very few pics on our place, so I am not worried about the extra pic. Not a camera issue, but the deer just aren't staying and feeding on my place as much. Must be some stuff in the woods somewhere that they are hitting harder.

I've had no luck with the Gen2 8.0 firmware update. I downloaded the .zip from the website and have tried:
- Loading the .zip on the same cards I used in the cameras last year. Did not work, but last year I had to unzip.
-Unzipped and only loaded on the 1200 file. No dice.
-Re-cleared the card using "CLEAR" on the camera (always looked empty on computer), and tried the 1200 file again both leaving and removing the DCIM folder the camera puts on. Didn't work.
-Cleared the internal memory with no SD card and tried the card with 1200 file again. Didn't work.
-Tried resetting the camera first.
-Tried removing the batteries and draining the power completely and re-starting after loading firmware.
-Tried all of the above with 2 additional brands of SD cards never used in these cameras before.

My creativity is exhausted. I triple-checked the file name. I tried my G transmitter unit and 3 J cameras with no luck so it feels like user error but I can't place it. Each time I go to "Load F/W" and click up twice, it says "Busy" for a few seconds, then goes back to "Welcome". I scroll to F/W version and I'm still on 7.6 from last spring.

EDITED: It worked once I saved the .zip directly to a card rather than saving it to my desktop and then dragging it onto the card. This is why I don't work in IT...

Only thing I see that I would try that you didn't mention was to reformat the SD card.

,are sure your computer isnt renaming the file , if you have an old firmware file on your computer sometimes the computer will rename it adding a # to the end, if this happens it wont load. if this doesnt work call into cuddeback and leave your name and number and someone should call you back.
