Nice sunset - sorry you saw no deer. Good luck with the bow, and any other later seasons you have there. The sunsets on the 2024 Missouri regular Firearms deer season. I cannot remember a year since my days in Minnesota where I did not see a single deer during the regular season.
I am looking forward to returning to a bow, and there is a part of me that is glad that I have my any deer firearms permit remaining for muzzleloader season.

It was a beautiful afternoon to be in the woods! The best is yet to come, as I will be mentoring new hunters the first two weekends of December and have plenty of tags for antlerless season, plus an archery and firearms buck tag. I’ve filled two tags early in the season, so the freezer is not empty. It’s been a strange year, but I’ve enjoyed more time in the woods than any season yet.Nice sunset - sorry you saw no deer. Good luck with the bow, and any other later seasons you have there.
Yeah I have a recipe for tag soup that I need to dig up myself. Neighbor started combining beans today. They are up to 5 dead EHD bucks in the first fieldLast sit of the 2024 Missouri regular Firearms Season. So far all my firearms tags are still in my pocket.
Glad you got one Tool'n.....and had a chance to use your Buck Knife (grin / lol). It didn't happen if we don't get a picture. Not live from the stand but 2 days later. I did my first rifle hunt in several years this year, Sunday was my 1st sit and Monday my second. My stand is on a corner of a 2 acre woods, picked bean field (80 acres) north and east of me and a 40 north of me 250 years away. Sunday to the west of me a cannon went off west of me seconds later 3 bucks come high tailing it through about 75 yards away and didn't stop till they hit the swamp grass 400+ yards away. That was it for the day. Monday 6 does came out of the swamp grass and were slowly heading my way. I watched them for about 30 minutes or so. Then around 4, 3 does came out of the woods to the north and were browsing the picked bean field. Shortly after a few more came out and the were also in the field. To the south east were the 6 from the swamp grass slowly heading my was but still over 300 yards. To the north there were now 8 in the bean field about 200 yards out. Then it was like someone opened the gate. I stopped counting at 15 there were small bucks, a larger one several does and their fawns. I scoped out the largest of the bunch but it was cloudy and not very bright so I couldn't tell what he was only he had a fair rack. He was at 170ish yards out. Not having shot the rifle in several years I didn't feel comfortable at that range so I waited. About 10 or so minutes later he was about 145 out and I took the shot. He dropped in about 50'. Easy dragging through the bean field.

At least the soup tastes less "papery" since Missouri went to Telecheck!Yeah I have a recipe for tag soup that I need to dig up myself. Neighbor started combining beans today. They are up to 5 dead EHD bucks in the first field
Not impressed with this year's Thanksgiving parade lineup so far.
Is she tempted by any of them?A little bit. A 5pt, 2 spikes, 2 does and a button. View attachment 71563View attachment 71564
Nope. She wants one of two bucks we've had on camera or a big doe. She hasn't ever shot a deer either. She didn't want to hunt last year. Now, she has high standards. I don't understand. At her age, I would have shot the button given the chance. I really wish she would shoot any of them just to get one under her belt.Is she tempted by any of them?
