Thanks Steve, I think he’d still be frolicking if it weren’t for that leg. I’m happy with him. Hard to get an old 9 to turn into a old 12. But he could have been a old warrior none the less without that break.

My neighbors son saw him earlier that morning and couldn’t get on him. I’m glad I got him but wouldn’t have been upset if the neighbor got it done. This makes a record for me. I’ve never killed a deer two years in a row. And He will look good on the wall. Also I ordered 20 lbs of jalapeño cheddar snack sticks with him :) we like those....

Wisconsin rifle season. Got skunked yesterday. Saw a group of 4 antlerless a little while ago. Appeared to be mom, yearling, and two fawns. Mom looks to have survived a high through and through hit during archery.

1600 edit. Just saw a monster 200 yds south walking sw towards the bedding area.

Was a good sit yesterday afternoon. Saw 11 does with walking 15 yards in front of my ground blind. Saw a total of 6 bucks, 3 basket racks, 2 good 3 years olds, and one nice mature buck hot on a doe. He was the big buck I had been chasing all bow season ... see the successful hunts thread for more ...

Was a good sit yesterday afternoon. Saw 11 does with walking 15 yards in front of my ground blind. Saw a total of 6 bucks, 3 basket racks, 2 good 3 years olds, and one nice mature buck hot on a doe. He was the big buck I had been chasing all bow season ... see the successful hunts thread for more ...

Dont know what has changed but this was the second sit of this stand that I havent had a deer walk by. That spot rested 6 days. Checked my rubline camera and not a single picture in a week.

Neighbor put a stud down this afternoon. I had no pics of him and it was on the other end of his land away from me.

This was by far the fewest shots ever for an opening season here as well. Biggest reason I can think is that guys are getting more picky, and that they're either less interested in eating venison, or they think they can get their freezer meat in the cold seasons. Was definitely weird though. My dad hunted yesterday morning and afternoon. My 7 year old and I sat the lunch hour. No shots fired in hearing distance the entire beautiful day.

Wish I had the answer but it crazy how few pics I have. I dont think this has happened for me. The guy hunting north shot a buck last weekend then walked all over it trying to find it. I shot that doe 2 weeks ago. Lake had my place under water for 2 months earlier this year. Just odd.

Just realized I didn’t close out my hunt - didn’t see anything. Hopefully the weather moving in will trigger some action or the secondary rut will bring me what I am after. May have to get the smoke pole ready.
