Live from the stand thread

I went out this morning and someone was parked right in the spot where I walk into the woods, so I went back home as I didn't have a backup spot. Went back at 2:00 and he was gone. There was blood and drag marks on the trail, so he got something. As I walk in a 6 pt buck runs away from my stand area.

About 3:30 a buck is meandering his way through the woods, eating acorns. I can tell he's young, and I change my mind about 20 times as to whether I would shoot him or not. He gets 10 ft from my stand and sees me, standing there staring for at least 5 minutes. He jumps off about 10 yards and then starts walking to the left.

Finally made a final decision and took the shot. Didn't make it out of sight before crashing. At this point in the season I get pretty tired of carrying a stand in and out of the woods every time I hunt, and am ready for my archery season to end. He was just the 3rd buck I've seen all season, and first to give me a shot. Only the 2nd archery buck I've taken in the 10 years I've been hunting.

My best archery season yet with 2 does and this buck. Some seasons I haven't had a single shot. Now I'll be resting up for a week to get ready for rifle season.

Nicely done - any deer with a bow is a trophy in my book.

I’m out this evening with the 22-250 Tikka coyote hunting. Heaven rest the soul of any that might come by.

We shot 8 mallards. I was 2 short but couldnt hit anything with this Benelli Montefeltro. With my 390 I would have been done no problems.

Ha, ha. I'm just the opposite with Beretta / Benelli's.

Its 67 degrees and a sse wind 5 to 10. I took 3 hours of vacation time and headed home. Preparing to walk in and sit the rest of the day. My south stand is where I am headed.

Turkeys and an armadillo so far.

In my “low rent” blind this evening. Looking for a monster for the wall.... we will see how things go. Looking over a small bean plot with some CRP and a creek in the tree line....

Sorry nothing further. I had 8 maybe 9 does but nothing else. Still good doe numbers for my place.

Never saw a deer. First time Ive sat that stand this year and not had a deer in bow range. Need rain to cleanse the scent

In the battle wagon tonight. Wind blowing 10-15 mph and in the mid 40’s at the moment. I am in a good spot as I saw and eventually bumped 2 bedded deer trying to stay out of the wind. I was messing around trying to get a pic and they saw me. Doe and fawn. I figured trying to stay low and out of the wind would increase my chances tonight. Battle wagon is rock solid in the wind!

Flag has to go! Wind is gusting at 20+ now and the flag is shaking the piss out of the blind. Connecting it to the 2x4 is too ridged

Saw 2 more right at dark, but just does. wind was pretty bad....

Headed home on Sunday. Got back late last night. First sit this afternoon. Not much to report...but I was on stand

Chuck just had two otters walk past him on top of the ridge.

Dang it Merle,
In 12 years I’ve never seen one of these. You dropped it off didn’t you?

We must have started a trend!
Chuck thought about it, but didn't want to mess his hunt up that day.
I do have a shop full of 280's, however.
