Live from the stand thread

First and only sit on the farm till the last week of Oct. Overlooking a waterhole and 1/3A clover plot/future orchard.

Wanted to get a sit on the clover before we get snow dumped on us Oct 1-2 by the sounds of it.

Decent front moving through, 10 degree drop in temps an the wind is howling, should settle down by dusk. Deer are already up on the their feet. 8 does/fawns are browsing around in the 1A split plot a couple hundred yards away.

Edit: update 8:37, on the blood trail

What did you get!?

From the looks of that arrow, Hind quarter. Maybe back strap?

ST, when I got down. I was thinking the same thing, crap, what happned. Muscle tissue an dark blood. Shot happened fast, 5yrds. Changed to a fixed broadhead this year so I put the pin tight on the shoulder. Pretty light blood for a pass through.

Ended up single lung, heart. Didnt go 90 yrds. Fun track job in the dark with a misty/fog thing going on.

Just put some info up on my PPS farm tour thread.

Corgrats on your success!!!

Ive seen 1 doe. Wouldve been close enough to stick, but came from the south and I have a stiff NE wind. Usually deer approach this stand from the NE or E which is the direction the pics are facing. She winded me before I saw her and ran by.20190928_065718.jpg20190928_065711.jpg

Skunked again today, but nice scenery in these coastal mountains. I can see the Atlantic ocean from the highest part on the west side of the terrain.

Deer are moving. Drew on a doe waiting for her to clear a tree. She walked east away from me and got to live. 39 minutes of shooting light left.20190929_184739.jpg

2 coyotes were the only thing I saw after those 3 deer wandered off.

I finally washed my hunting clothes last night. I'll hang them out on the line after work today and that is where they will stay for the rest of the year. If i'm lucky and the conditions are favorable I MIGHT get out next weekend.

Your not going to wear them? Just leave them on the line all fall? :emoji_stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Heading out when the rain is over.

Know you've had way more than you ever wanted, so if you could send it to down to us in the southeast be MUCH appreciated. Not a single measurable rain in more than five weeks and the soil is still baking in 90+ degree temps as of today and I have no clue when I'll be able to plant fall crops -- typically do so by mid-Oct. Murphy's law... last year I was trying to get a Morton building put up and it took almost a full year due to swamped conditions. This year we'll be lucky to end up with even half the rain total we had last year.

We got .5". More coming in the morning. Just got winded by one. Not sure how its possible with the east wind and it was south of me but whatever. It carried on alot of snorting. Little wet out here.

Same little buck from the other night walked right under the stand. Also saw a doe at 100 yds.

Samelittle buck showed up last night at 15 yards. I ended up shooting a doe. Headed to go lool for her shortly. Waiting on the sun to crest the big hill to the east of me

I think its time to sell the bow and concentrate on bird hunting

Did you find the doe you shot? It's a beautiful morning and from your pics the place is looking great! I saw some ducks on ponds yesterday, got my blood going a little.

No. Cant find blood after the bed. No idea on direction of travel. Checked the creek as well as blowdowns in the area. May have video of her after the shot on the trail camera.
