I thought maybe some good real estate deals could be had in the situation. Not far from where I live, would make a nice weekend retreat. You close to there?

They can still be had, it was more of a buyers market around the lake 4-5 years ago with $400K+ houses selling for $250-$300.
I'm right there! Lake is a mile from my house.

Are there advisories for eating the fish? Nobody could really answer about entering the water, etc. I'm ready to catch some crappie, hard water or not.

I don't think so, everyone I know eats them. A month or two ago the crappie bite was on pretty good, early spring is world class...some good walleye/saugeye fishing too, I think the next state record could come from there. Ten pounders are common with thirteen-fourteen not that rare any more.
Seems like the ducks are really showing up now that the cold blast is coming. To bad the season is out :(
Pulled in to the driveway around dinner time last night. 2400 miles in 5 days. 1/2 the trip with an empty trailer and 1/2 loaded. Now I'm headed out to winterize the boat. Not much RV antifreeze to be found in SW Florida.
Maybe next winter we'll do some sea duck runs. Sea ducks don't care about white boats if you have enough decoys out.
On the St. Mary? I was pond fishing and it was about that here, 6.5-7. High tomorrow of -4 is going to make some ice! Just hope 3-4 days of rain and warm doesn't ruin it.
Nothing calling yet today. Chose to sit a predetermined spot. If no luck, I'll hit the creek bottom tomorrow morning and try to locate one. Lot of snow melted overnight.

Our season starts next Monday, saw ten out at the farm today they were to far to tell if any gobblers in the bunch and they ran in woods when they saw the dog. I'm going to have to go into work a few hours late one day next week if I hear much gobbling over the weekend.
It happened very fast. She ran up the slope I was on and gave me a very hard quartering shot through some juniper bushes. She's about 6 months I reckon. Red deer calf.
