Live from the stand thread

Opening day on public land in Marquette county. Lots of shooting in nearby area. My brother in law takes a shot at 7:30, about 300 yards to the west of me. A couple of does jump up about 100 yards south of me and run off. Another deer stands up, looking around. One shot from me and it's down. Resized_20181117_082027_6294.jpeg

My brother in law wasn't sure about the shot he took. He walks around the marsh to look, and finds his deer. One shot kill from 250 yards, turns out to be a spike buck.

Rifle hunt day 3. Monday-Wednesday has become my favorite time to hunt our gun season. Most of the yahoos are done by now. This one's for you Big Snow Man and Bill. Edge of sanctuary/bedding.

In the stand by 0745. Ive heard alot of gobbling. You would think it is april not november. Yet to see a deer but it is the rut so anything could happen. Ill give it a couple hours and if I see nothing go duck hunting.

Alright Bueller let’s close the deal today or we might have pics of your whole property by Friday !

Congrats Barndog56 and Peeps! Nice bucks.

A meaningful deer-
After years of hunting everywhere but the family farm, I started to hunt at home this year more, especially since this is the first hunting season since I started on my habitat improvements. While I’ve killed here before, this is my first deer here since my name was on the deed, and the first using the property for cover, and not just moving through some crop stubble. Saw 14 deer in two sits, and all were relating to my NWSG field and clover plantings. Very satisfying. I really need to start one of the property tour threads one of these days, since they’ve helped me so much. Thank you all!

I've been up in one stand or another for about a week mostly hunting evenings. I've seen deer every sit lots of does and yearlings with a few baskets close, have seen a few nice bucks.
Had a 140+ gallop into the woods across the pasture last Wednesday night about forty minutes before dark that stirred everything up. I was sitting up in our tall stand overlooking a sweet scrape line twenty five yards straight in front of me had a couple yearlings walk under me and start feeding in the corn stubble behind me. I was videoing them when a ruckus started out front of me to my right, the nice buck was chasing this big doe all over the woods.
I stood up and hooked release up to my bow ready to drill that buck....she ran right under me at ten yards, I though it was a sure thing...the buck paralleled her thirty yards further out behind the scrape line and stopped. He was just about forty yards straight out in front of me but had a few little scrub bushes in front of him and the light was fading, he stood still for ten to twenty seconds then took off after her again.
I was weak in the knees at what had just happened....if only he would have followed her under me!
Still an awesome hunt.

There are five hot scrapes in a row about ten feet apart at twenty five yards

My 14 yr old dropped this one at 0840 on Saturday. Trempealeau County

Smile tells the story....congrats to him.

Looking out our kitchen window watching a doe with 2 fawns. Going to run some errands while waiting on the wind to come from the south late morning. Then it will be a sit for the rest of the morning.

Bueller where is your daily stand picture for today?

Wind had switched. There is a small buck running a doe I am watching from the front door.

In the stand. Wind and weather is perfect. Ill sit the rest of the day or until I get fed up. Got a bottle of water and ludens cough drops.
