Currently pinned down, was hoping to get out by 1030, then these three showed back up for a midmorning drink. Might be here awhile.

I like the homemade drink tank what if anything feeds it other than rain. Is it fed by run off water too

I rake it out in the spring when it is still mostly one big floating ice block to get all the leaves an gunk out from the previous year. Then refill it with well water. Most of the time there is very little left in the tank. I Let rain refill it over spring/summer, (try to get it on a downhill slope or low spot). Then when I'm making my final rounds on the farm in Aug I will top them off if needed.

Been thinking of rigging something up to attach to a tree to catch rain an funel down to the tub with a piece of hose, but still working on that.

Headed back over after getting off work this morning at 7 am. Hunted the afternoon next to a corn field they were combining. Had a 4 ptr hang out by me watching the combine and then as I was packing up before dark a mature doe came walking past. She’s now taking a nap in the back of my truck. Time for bed. Been up for 31 hours. Me tired.

57 degrees sw wind at 20 mph. Hard to believe we expect a blizzard in 2 days. Watching a trail from a bedding area south of me. We will see what happens.

So they came into the hay field south of me. It is in a trust that allows no hunting. It was the 7 does from yesterday morning. They were slowly working my way and acting spooky. Then a coyote south of me sounded off and 3 more that were danger close sounded off ending the hunt.20181123_172806.jpg

Do you hunt? Where's yours?
Bueller do I need to make a trip from Adams over to your land to coach you. We have a couple small 8’s down I didn’t shoot waiting for a nice one

Shortly after taking the pic had 9 does & fawns in front of me a until a little horny (figuratively and literally) spike gave chase. Watching him feed alone now.

Post hunt report... quite the evening sit. 9 does and fawns returned to the plot only to be joined by a 10th doe before yet again the same spike found them and chased them. About 20 minutes before dark two more yearlings joined the spike for some light sparring... only to have a shooter buck walk out in the very back of the plot. Took me a second or two to confirm its ID and it never gave me a clean broadside shot before it exited the plot. Wife sent me a text to say she saw it trotting in our front yard before quickly losing sight of it. Last few seconds of legal light I see a big bodied buck entering the plot from the direction the shooter buck exited... so little light I was really having a hard time verifying rack against known ones... and THEN see second bigger bodied buck following the first buck out. Focusing and refocusing my scope I FINALLY reverify it is indeed the same shooter buck on the hit list. It's on the move, never stopping, and though I've got it in the crosshairs a single second with the safety off and pressure on the trigger I hold out of concern whether I'll be making 100% clean shot with really no legal light left.

Neighbor and his grandson visiting for Thanksgiving harvested two this week. Glad my shooter wasn't one of them and hope I get to see it again with a tad more light.

Looks like a couple duck dinners !!:emoji_thumbsup:

My pictures from the house are no way near the quality of Bigbend's.
Took this from the kitchen yesterday trough a screened window. We see does all the time but in 10 years this is only about the 3rd buck. My sons home from college and saw him today. He's buying his archery license tomorrow. For around here that's a real good buck! Cheating us with no brow points but he's not a 1.5 year old
