tucked away oat plot

Greta&Gus

5 year old buck +
I planted this oat plot on the 18th of July and it is looking great. I mixed in a little brassica for good measure too. I have a mineral station set up on the edge and two cameras to monitor the action. I am hoping that come September this becomes a prime location for deer.

I would bet the oats lay down and the brassica take over. Heat like we are having is very hard on oats. Should be enough to draw them in though. I think next year try to hold off a little longer on the oats. On the farm we used to reseed oats behind spring wheat for a cover crop and we usually didnt take the wheat out until August. It would damn near head out every year before it froze.

You are right that I probably planted too early but it was the only time I had.
