Todays Projects - what's yours?

foggy

5 year old buck +
Today I did an oil change on my tractor, fixed up my PTO shielding on my cutter, and hooked it up. Mowed around my shed. Also made a shop cart so I can roll my planter for storage. I got many of my implements on carts now.....and really like how easy it is to get them into service this way. I found a set of 4 rubber wheels and casters for $30 at Northern Tool.....and assembled a custom platform from some scrap wood I had. Works good.

Bad news tho......I overdid my back......and I just made an appointment with my back surgeon. This has been getting progressively worse for a few weeks. Debilitating pain down my left leg......not looking good. Began to wonder if I could get off the floor after the oil change. Getting old ain't for sissies. ;)

Anyway.....heres pics I took. OH.....and my soybeans are beginning to sprout!

Ooops. Put this in wrong category. Sorry. (must be my back pain went to my brain?)

Slick little cart you made there Foggy. I need to make me up something of the sort for mine. Gotta get a few project cars out of my garage first!

Your going to have to lay off the golf with that bad back. NO MORE FORE

My day consisted of planting last bit of soybeans and spraying my tree plantings for thistles. I nearly ran over 3 fawns while spraying luckily a few doe beds caught my attention and I kept an eye out for them.

Scary shit with all those fawns. Wow.

I have to spray with in days too. Now ya got me scared.

Work............. Nothing to do right now up north anyway to be honest.

The first one scared the crap out of me because I thought I ran it over. It ran off and kept falling over which made me nervous but the others fell over too when they jumped up so I think they were just pretty new.

Not sure I'm going to play any golf for a while. Played yesterday.....and every swing was high-level pain. Not good on my score either....hard to focus when you know its gonna hurt. ;)

Playing golf probably put me over the top.....but this event has been coming for a long time. Had some surgery a few years back.....instant relief at that time......but I got more issues. All started with lifting elm stumps....many years ago. :(

Foggy I envy how well you take care of your stuff. Someday I hope to have a shed to store my equipment in. Currently I just pray everything works when I show up. It usually doesn't :(

I use my implements pretty hard sometimes....but try to not abuse them. Still....clearing land is hard on stuff. I do enjoy playing with mechanical stuff....when it goes as planned. A tractor without implements.....doesn't get you very far.

I've had to store some machinery outside over the winters lately. Had my boat stored in the shed over winters....and that used up so much space. I changed my boat storage plans......so I can now store more implements inside. I think I can get it all inside if I have these carts. It's hard to justify inside storage space for some relatively low-cost implements - with a high priced shed - IMO. Still....it is nice when stuff isn't rusty and its ready to go when you need it. :)

I never owned hunting land until I was in my late 50's. Didn't have time for it. The shed, tractor and implements came later. I do wish I could have done some of this 20 years earlier.....It might be easier. ;)

Hear you there!

Finally got my subcontracted parts in - I've been working ever since I got home with them.

A/C's on, tunes blaring, CNC mill spinning away. Not a bad gig if you can get it. :D

Cart looks great Foggy. I built one for my Tiller once I saw yours, great idea. The carts enable you to shove things in corners so you can use every inch of your space.

Good luck with the back, older equipment always needs a little work and lubrication to keep working. ;)

I did some work on a rifle I picked up yesterday. It's a lever action savage model 99f in 243. It had a crack on the front stock that needed to be glued up and put together. I got it for the right price and should be fun just as a shooter.

Not much I could do today......with my bad back and all. Took a drive to look for a better boat hoist for my fishing boat. Found a fair used one.....price is right.....but made a monumental decision to buy a new one. Too many hoops to jump thru to get the used hoist up to speed, haul it home, and get it into the lake. Gonna wait till fall. At least I reached a decision. :) Another one of those purchases that will "last me the rest of my life". More of those every day. Grin :D ;)

I used to give guys hell if the said there back hurt on the construction site. I was always yelling to carry 2 sheets of plywood not one........Until I had to crawl on my hands and knees around the house for 3 days. It was some of the worst pain I have ever felt coming from my lower back. Its always in the back of my mind now. Hope it never happens again.

Hope you get better Tom!

We got Bob's plot done :)
If it works out he'll have about 1.5 acres of beans and 5 acres of corn (corn done by his farmer)....this is the year he shoots a booner :D
I hope Bob gets the big one. I drove by and saw you guys hard at work.

stu-was that rye on your SE corner all no till? It looks great, even as a screen. Might be a place for a fawn to hide.
