The Land of Milk and Honey

Hard time of year to judge because all deer rut differently and it effects their bodies differently as well. All that said, I'd guess 4 as well.

Nothing good showed up for your dad during rifle season?

I wouldn't disagree with him being 4. With that being said, whether I let him walk or not is relative to what else is around to target and if your property has a history of bucks making it to see the next year.

Yeah I'd agree. Nothing to hunt here either. Looking fwd to coon trapping season lol

Imagine how awesome it would be if you were ate up with coon hunting like we are with deer. You would be in high cotton! Coons everywhere and no one hardly would deny you permission to hunt.

But I agree, I don’t think that Deer is worth taking out this year.

I will be doing some doe shooting myself after gun season,Saw 21 doe/fawns and 5 bucks last night in 1 field with wheat cover crop.Tonight hunted travel route ans saw 1.It's cold enough they are hitting food pretty good.Wish I had some standing beans. This field is one of 4 all more than 40 acres but I can't see them from where I was, they have milo stubble and wheat.

I can't catch a raccoon to save my life. I managed to catch 2 possums and a cat, but the raccoons must be happy out in the forest eating berries or whatever they find there. Hopefully this snow will start making them a bit desperate for food.

The lower the temperature gets the less the coons move, especially if there is snow on the ground. Not uncommon for coons to hole up in a tree or in the ground for several days if temps are in the lower 20s or lower. They are basically in semi-hibernation, thus the reason a healthy coon has alot of fat!

@ T-max
I've been up in the Concordia area many times pheasant hunting. About everytime i've been, always see a nice buck on the side of the road when driving, and more turkeys than I've ever seen in my life, but have yet to see a single deer while all my time hunting in the field, lol.

Who scored?

Reading between the lines it appears he got a doe a mile to the north.

Outstanding! Congrats!

Awesome! She's going to eat good, especially after the struggles. Congrats!

Congrats! Looks like great eating!

I’d say without a doubt

I'd say he's mature. I'm no good at aging deer after their first couple of years. I've had history with bucks that I know are over 6.5, but look the same as they did as a 3.5. I'd say yours is 3.5 or +

Did you put PEX heating under your current house? If you did I assume you like it or you wouldn't be doing it again.

I wanted to do floor heating but was talked out of it. Told me KS isn't right for it due to temp swings. You'd turn it on during a cold day, then it would be 60 the next day. Problem being that once all that cement got warm it would take forever to cool back off. Then you'd be stuck with a hot house on a hot day. Looking back, I wish I would have went ahead and done it though.

Place is looking great!

We have a mini split on each level at the hunting shack, love them!
