Another busy day. We bought this dump trailer about a year ago. Super handy! Today I hauled 6 loads of material to level up our pad. We will form up and pour a 2’ stem wall on these footers, then build the lean-to on top of that. Progress…

It sucks the quarry is actually like 2 miles from my house, but their scale is across the river so you gotta go around.

I've put 48 tons in the driveway this spring. Much longer drive than 8 miles for us to get it so I have it delivered. Looks like you have a great setup though. I'd be scared of what trouble I'd get into with a dump trailer and a quarry that close.

Haha! The tailgate is a barn door style and not a flip up. I still hire a truck to come in and tailgate for our driveway. We’ve hauled several loads of scrap steel to town this year and it’s great for cleaning corrals.

Since I can’t get in the field to plant, I decided to upgrade the spray rig. Extended the booms from 10’ to 20’ and added supports. New regulator and pressure gauge should allow me to dial it in. Ready to get out again and it keeps raining. I’ll take it!

I need to build a decent spray rig. I am of the mind set that the better quality ones are way over priced for what you are really getting. The cheaper ones are a piece of garbage that last about 6 months. I built a cheap (temporary) rig for the back of the 4 wheeler for spraying my cool season grass and it worked well.

This one has served us well. I wish the tank were a little bigger. The regulator was broke before. With the tips we had I was applying ~23 gallons of solution per acre meaning my 50 gallon tank could spray 2 acres. With the new regulator and tips I can hopefully dial that down to around 12-14 gallons of solution. Since my main foodplot is 3.5 acres, it would allow me to spray it on one tank. That would be big since my refill is back at the house. The extra boom width obviously allows for quicker spraying and less compaction.

I can’t take all the credit for that. I looked on some auction sites for a bigger sprayer and they all had the supports and it was easy enough to do. My brother works for a large commercial electrician company in Topeka and they are always throwing away really good stuff. We tend to find the most use out of strut. That stuff is great!

Calibration went great! Dialed it in at 12 gallons per acre. Spray volume was very consistent! Since my NWSG hadn’t germinated I loaded it up and sprayed 2.5 acres. Took me maybe 45 minutes round trip from the house. That is great! Would have taken me a couple hours before for sure. I am liking this setup. Only one small pinhole leak to deal with yet.

That is a SWEET setup. The 4 row would be awesome for milo. I really wish I would have bought a setup like this and added a mid-range skidsteer instead of buying a 40 hp Kubota with FEL.

I got the parts for my 1230 JD planter that I picked up last year yesterday. I should be able to plant 4 rows now instead of 2 now.... LOL I am looking forward to the day I can no-till plant. My oats that I planted earlier this Spring look to be about the right height now to terminate and plant my beans. However, I am guessing I am going to have to spray glyphosate, wait a week or 2 and till and then plant.
