I'm sure most of it is going to look pretty sad the first year, but after that the thicket will begin. We are having to clear cut more than we originally thought. Bugs starting in pinesTimber harvest pictures are always interesting. Please post some.
I know things don't always work on our schedule but they work out in the end, Good luck!Well....all my work on my place is pretty much at a stand still. At least on the 60+ acres of timber.
Timber guy called yesterday and says he should b ready in a couple weeks. I would have liked for him to have been about a month earlier, but I sure didn't want him cutting during deer season.
At least I have my big regeneration thicket and the 20 acres I have planted in trees that is a thicket now. I should still have some deer bedding on my place after cutting the big timber
Yep. ...that's right. My big woods had almost no bedding area. Going to be good days ahead in couple years.I know things don't always work on our schedule but they work out in the end, Good luck!
I know right. ..about the beetlesIf they leave the tops I bet you'll see bedding this year.
On a side note. "Damn pine bark Beatles"
Thanks. ..the sawtooth orchard is my favorite project!Catching up on all these threads over here. Love your sawtooth orchard. Hard to beat native persimmons for soft mast.
My grandmaw has a fig tree and I could eat myself sick under that thing. Even in town we still have to fight the birds, squirrels, and such for them.
I'll have to try that and then serve with fresh biscuits. My wife loves honey so I know it would be a hit with herIf you make your own preserves instead of white sugar use a 50/50 mix of honey and raw cane sugar. Takes fig preserves to a whole different level.
