I saw a small 8 tonight.

My brother had an ok one at 20 yards. Filmed with his phone. I love the way they use the fairway through the shingle oaks.

I had the same forker from this morning come in again this afternoon. And then a spiker towards sunset. Neither one was acting "rutty" but were a bit skittish and seemed concerned with their surroundings.

May be afraid of their old buddy's. I watched a 3.5 year old charge a 1.5 YO yesterday like he was gong to kill him.
It only lasted 50 yards but the older boy wasn't kidding.

We need two switches flipped in MO. One for the chase and one for the AC. It's friggin hot here. And will be for the next 10 days as far as I can see.

68° today and tomorrow. Around 18° above normal for this time of year. My neighbor mowed her lawn yesterday.

At least it started a couple degrees cooler today, even some light frost. I'm overlooking a small meadow with scattered hazelnut and scrub oak. It's typically a runway for bucks during the rut and also used for bedding.

Yet another setup.

Deer are moving, I can hear them on the oak ridges. I'm in a saddle that is a natural crossing point between 2 large ridges. 50 yards of swamp connects them.

Just had a little 6 cruise through.

Just had mom and fawn with 1.5 old doe. Nothing behind them either. Buddy hunting 500 yards away in different woods and txted me had 3 buck with one shooter running doe like crazy. All about right spot at right time.

I may try some estrous scent later to see if I can speed that time up

Just saw the same forker for third sit in a row. I don't think he knows what the rut is. If he gives me a chip shot I'm not sure I will pass it.
