Fruit trees are hit and miss this year, we had a late frost. This NWC droptine crab is loaded. I planted it in May 2018.

The summer bears have shown up.

What is your summer/fall plan for that food plot! Looks great, I always hate to mow when they get like that, especially with fawns nearby/in them.

Beautiful place! Love seeing your little kids, gonna be a special place for them.

I broadcast a little buckwheat on them last week but I do not plan on mowing or burning them down this summer. I will broadcast and spray the fall plot in September.

Looks GREAT weekender! Great Land Tour bud!
After raising kids of my own I have to say it warms my heart to see people getting the young ones outdoors and putting smiles on their faces :)

I’m not really a fan of summer relative to the other seasons but there are definitely perks. Ripe berries being one of them.

I was disappointed to find the licking branch above one of our best community scrapes on the ground.

I carefully removed the licking branch and hung it above the scrape with paracord. Hopefully they’ll forgive the few weeks it wasn’t available.

Trying to get another scrape going on a different part of the property. The branch is face level on a regularly traveled logging road.

This trail is a thing of beauty, looks like a cattle trail.

Most of the old apples on our place are loaded this year. None of them are in places I would plant an apple on purpose but they are a neighborhood draw. Almost zero acorns this year so it’s nice to have soft mast.

These apples are on a NWC droptine crab I planted in May 2018.

I haven’t planted all our fall plots yet but this one was sprayed, planted the next day and mowed three days later. There are still too many briars in this one to skip the mowing. Buckwheat and oats in this one. I’ll add WW, WR, clover, and a few others next month.

This small plot was sprayed and planted (broadcast) the next day. No reason to mow this one. BW and oats for now.

Very nice pictures, and your Droptine Crabs look better than mine, which were frost damaged.

Weird year for apples. We had at least two events that should qualify as a late freeze but a few young trees and most of the old trees on our place are loaded.

Plots planted early August have good growth of BW and oats. I added WW, WR, Oats, clover x4, vetch, PTT, and radish on 28 August, a few days ahead of Ida.

Sprayed this plot August 7th, spot sprayed August 28th. Planted and mowed August 29th.

Received a few inches from Ida this week. Not much moisture in the 10 day forecast but temps are in the 70’s during the day with heavy dew in the morning. If it doesn’t work out I’ll just add WR in a few weeks.

Hard antlers on August 24th.

A dozen + apples on this 2019 planted Dolgo. I pinched the fruit off so the bears don’t get any crazy ideas.

Yay! Congrats On the harvests and the beautiful property. It’s great when all the work pays off but you’re gonna be done hunting before the season even gets going LOL.

Thanks!

We have a pretty liberal bag limit; 4 doe, 2 buck tags. Ideally I’d fill my doe tags early. If I get an opportunity at a nice buck this year that’s just a bonus.
