USA to "take over" the Gaza Strip

I don't/haven't really followed any of the foreign war issues because I believe we're just being spoon fed information by our government and media in an effort to get all of us thinking the way they want us to just like every other topic on the planet. I don't trust what's been recorded in the history books much either. jmo

When you pull back from the world stage the bad actors will fill the voids. That means China and Russia.

I don’t know a lot about USAID and I know even mentioning it will draw daggers. What I do know is that the highest estimate of how much of federal spending it amounts to that I can find is 1.2%. I have heard as low as .4%. I know that there is mismanagement and I believe it when the Trump administration says some of the aid went into bad actors pockets. Maybe a redo is in order! I certainly hope so because China’s Belton Road initiative is sneaky, underhanded and it works. THAT needs to be guarded against. USAID is our tool to fight that and help influence the events on the world stage. Soft power. The carrot you wield with the big stick.

We, the United States, use food and medicine aid to our advantage. Yes it’s manipulative and it’s distasteful to say that. It doesn’t always work. Maybe the Trump administration can make it better. I hope so. I really do. Easing misery while advancing our interests is money well spent and I bet an economist could tell you why it is a good investment. Plus, we are America for God’s sake. We are easy to criticize but we do more good in the world than any nation, bar none. Warts and all.
I don’t believe Russia and China will be filling the void on what USAID has become and why they were spending money on. It became a rogue with no oversight. Promoting woke, trans and LGBQ ideas all over the World. I would educate yourself a bit more on this Organization and what it has become

I would tend to agree with you, @Buckly . Russia and China have been spending their influence money as they see fit. And it generally doesn't have anything to do with the nonsense USAID has been promoting.

My thought is, we may have created the zoo, but when we are 36+ trillion dollars in debt and counting, and being taxed at the high rates we are at now, we need to cut back on giving all the other zoos and monkeys condoms, LGBQ dance lessons, and seeing how a shrimp walks on a treadmill with cocaine. If we dont pull back on our expensive influences around the world, we will fall like the USSR did, but only harder.

Somehow 36 trillion in debt makes us the richest country in the world. I need that explained in a way that might possibly make sense. I know a lot of people aren't great at math but that one almost seems kind of obvious. Used to be told that we were borrowing the money from China when I was a kid. Even in elementary school I wondered why China would keep borrowing us money if we never pay it back.

Should add that back then we probably were only in debt one tenth of what we are now. I'm seeing a pattern. Back then Terry Bradshaw made like 70k a year and he won super bowls.

Because it's a money making machine for them. As long as we keep paying the interest they're happy to have the money and have us bent over.

Just like any government agency that size, it’s neither all good nor all bad. LIKE I SAID in the post above, maybe the administration can reshape it in a better form. I’m for that. Can’t just wad it up and throw it in the trash.

I hope you all get the trans/woke whatever solved. I’ll be glad to quit hearing about it every minute of every day. Especially since it’s never affected me, my wife or my two daughters who played travel, high school and college sports. Not one time.

I’m sorry but that stuff is exhausting and I don’t know that it’s worth the energy that people are putting into it.

I know that is seems like trans athletes in womens sports is a massive problem. And for the record, I don’t think trans athletes should play girls sports at any level, rec to college to Olympic or pro. It is my personal opinion that as soon as a male transitions, competing sports is unfortunately something they will not be able to do.

So- The Illinois High School Association says that there are 320,000 student-athletes competing in all IHSA sports at all levels.

How many trans athletes applied for waivers and received them this year?

The answer when we come back!

Three. The answer is 3 out of 320,000 and last year it was one.

The bad news is that it’s a 300% increase lol. I’M KIDDING!

I do not have a clue....what the total value of all the things that would be considered "equity" in the USA. But when you add up all the infrastructure, roads, water, sewer, bridges, various monumental buildings across the USA, power plants, housing, power, pipelines and electric grid, stadium, parks, timberlands, farm lands, natural resources, and so many more things........If that ain't worth 36 trillion......I'd be very surprised. So......on a debt to equity ratio....we may have come out on top. And....if our financial system does implode.....money may not have any value.....but...we still got "the stuff".

I'd say that equity investing will TRUMP the cost of borrowed money....in the long run. I rest my case.

Did a quick google on the amount of land in the USA. If we just factor land at 2.4 billion acres.....and not count "improvements"......what would be the cost per acre if we "owe" 36 trillion ....on those 2.4 billion acres? My calculator does not compute such things.

Your calculations are wrong. The government doesn't own that much land. I'm not 36 trillion in debt, they are. I'll die on my 125 acres, with inprovements, before I give it to them to pay their, not my, debt.

That's an interesting concept, but it probably doesn't hold enough weight in politics to be relevant.

The fact is, after Breton Woods, all the anti-communist monkeys became our zoo. We had unprecedented growth during that period. Eventually, the reason for Breton-Woods evaporated, and Americans quit caring about it. That has lead to a global paradigm shift. The global paradigm shift has lead to a global political shift. We are in the middle of that. When it all shakes out, the world will be a lot easier to understand. But for now, it's very confusing. And rest assured, it is definitely our monkeys that made the world a zoo.

Tele - you read Peter Zs new book?

Did any other Vets find the comments about the US taking over Gaza a little salty?

Surely that ain’t happening without some Marines on the ground.

I mean if you’re going to have a bunch of Marines coming home dead and maimed by IEDs (drones in 2025), to enrich the Industrial War Machine, at least give me some lie about WMDs, I can tell the girl at the local pub.
