Miscanthus Giaganteus propagation from cuttings.

Thanks for the update. I'll try to get some pics of mine tonight.

Finally took some pics a couple days ago.

These are the one's starting on their 2nd year:

These are starting on their 3rd year:

Looking good Spiider

Took these today. Year three so I can't wait to see them in August.

I'm not going to bother with the Sudan sorghum backup screen this year.

Looking good Bill! You are little ahead of us here in MI.

Wow, those look great Bill!

MG has taken off the last little bit with the warmer weather.

I swear it's grown a foot this week. Shaping up to be one of those years it will be 8 foot tall by mid June.

Ours has jumped a lot the last week I believe it's because of the 80 degree days and about an inch of rain plus the triple 19 didn't hurt.

I would be interested in buying some cuttings this year to try if any of you are interested.

How many do you want?

PM me your address.

I've got 2 really old mature plants at my house that are 6 foot tall already and prime for cuttings right now.

I'm sure quite a few could fit in one of those "if it fits, it ships boxes."

No charge for the cuttings. Just get some jars of water ready.

Mine aren't quite as far along as Bill's so if you want some later like 2-3 weeks pm me and I'll get you some.

Thanks Scott, we'll see what Bill sends. If I need more I'll let you know. I am interested in doing an experiment using willow steeped water to root them in to see if that helps with rooting.

Landlord you have a PM. The post office didn't like the address you gave me.

As of today. Year 3 and finally have that wall I wanted.

Looks good Bill, what did you use for weed suppression?

This year I sprayed after they sprouted so I used atrazine and 2-4'D mixed with dawn dish detergent. In the past I have used Atrazine and gly pre sprout.

Atrazine is a restricted herbicide but I have a freind with a license who closely monitors all activities :)

Paul Knox used to say Simazine was a close second to atrazine for use in switch. Simazine 4L is only restricted in California so you can get it at keystone pest supply. BUT I would try a few plants to be sure the MG is resistant.

I want to hit mine with gly but I seem to always miss it and they've sprouted already , thx.
