Iwas pretty near the top of the hill, with an open field about 50 yards behind me.Yeah, that’s a swirling wind caused by topographical and/or vegetative factors. I bet if you were to go 100 feet up above the trees it would be blowing consistently a certain direction. That’s why a lot of people try to hunt “high” in terms of the immediate elevation. Hunting low and in bowl amongst a bunch of trees is super hard unless you have a really strong consistent wind

Good luck to my fellow Illinois hunters tomorrow for the opener. Got "deer camp" started with wings n beers last nt.

Sitting in my tree stand one last time. Killed a doe on the right of way last night so I’m pretty much done hunting. Didn’t even bring a rifle, just a revolver. So unless some big buck is dumb enough to walk in close there will be no shooting. Just wanted to enjoy the woods. What an amazing change. First few days of the season were windy, cold snow blown. Now it’s warm, quiet and windless. The only sound (other than the ringing in my ears) are some birds, mostly woodpeckers all around and the occasional car down on the highway. Shame it wasn’t like this all week.
Man what a mess. Even if I never cut down another tree it would take me years to clean off all the down trees

Would you like to be my neighbor?
Showing my corn baiting ignorance here.. wouldn't it go bad if you had individual kernals laying on the ground if you get some moisture?lol you will be perfect! I got a text from a buddy the other day where one of his friends said he had good look putting the fertilizer spreader on the back and spreading corn through his plots as opposed to piles. What an amazing woodsman
