Cool view there. Is that a natural watering hole or did you make that?

Natural waterhole that I made bigger. It always held water but I wanted it bigger than it was.

This little guy is giving it everything he's got. They ran the field three times.

And now this little guy is going to try to catch up to them.

Rut Annex Update: Between my meeting that ended at 10:54 and the one that started at 11:00 I arrowed a nice buck. I saw a doe and a fork go through earlier and he was on the same trail. I didn't have time to get video, and I felt the shot was less than perfect. After my 11:00 am meeting I looked at the sight and found white hair and a blood trail that is good, but dark, and no arrow.

This has been an amazing 6 hours, and once I retrieve the buck, it will be a story for many years to come.
This was the hardest retrieval I've had...it was a liver shot and the deer was still alive at 6:32 pm when I found him. A second shot allow me to notch the tag. The deer expired just over the property line in a deep creek bed, and I have a good relationship with the neighbor (but not one where he will help 😙). Winches will be required, as this is a solo recovery, so I am getting dinner and planning my approach. Here is a picture of the buck on a camera from yesterday. I harvested him just 10 yards from this camera, about 24 hours after this picture was taken.

Good buck movement the last couple of hours before dark last night as the wind dropped off, one of my better bucks would have been killable (not sure I would have shot him, he is a long tined 4x4, but looks to be maybe 3 or 4 years old) if I was in the stand I hunted tonight. Unfortunately, I had other commitments last night. Hunted this morning and saw a half dozen antlerless, the most I have seen in quite sometime. An average size buck bumping a pair of them around, though he wasnt set on chasing anything. Tonight was a bust, had a little spike buck chasing a doe in some brush 15 minute after I got into the stand and then after that it was just me and the squirrels .... lots of squirrels! LOL

That corn didn't grow so well.

This has been one of my worst years in terms of seeing shooter bucks. I have off all next week and will hunt starting sat. Can’t today and tomorrow son has a baseball camp at a college 4.5 hours away so we are leaving today and not getting home until late tomorrow.

Nice buck, congrats! Good to see all your time and energy pay off!

Congrats…but that’s not the same deer in the trail cam pic
