5 year old buck +
You got to quit poor mouthing your farm! All I see are studs.
That is a dang nice deer, with dang good mass. I guess KY like most of the other good midwest deer states where the deer keep adding bone - even at age six or seven? Our bucks commonly loose points after four or five and they dont have mass to begin with. I am already seeing a few broken tines - though not sure if that is possible on this buck! They didn’t take long. Zero pics of this deer. It’s one I know from last year. May regrets this. I think he’s four. Need him at 5 View attachment 83882
He actually went by a camera after this a couple hundred yards away. He may be 5 after studying his body. Probably dumb but it was my decision in the moment and I’ll have to live with it. I have 2 bigger that I know of so fingers crossedThat is a dang nice deer, with dang good mass. The old saying dont pass on the first day what you would shoot on the last, but I have only been guilty of that once in my life. Since my state went to APR’s, even though it is a two buck state, I have never killed two bucks in the same year. In fact, I have killed one buck in the last four years. Pre apr’s, I killed my two spikes every year.
With the high likelihood that buck gets shot by a neighbor as you describe, would have been a hard one to pass for me. Good luck!
You’ll get your target I bet.He actually went by a camera after this a couple hundred yards away. He may be 5 after studying his body. Probably dumb but it was my decision in the moment and I’ll have to live with it. I have 2 bigger that I know of so fingers crossed

That's some cool looking country. How hard is it to buy moose and stag tags in other countries in Europe? Are stags native to sweden?

Here is later. I agreeView attachment 83899
Red deer are native to Sweden and Norway. I live in Norway and mostly hunt there. Moose are also native to Norway and Sweden, but not in the part of Norway where I live.
There are no tags in Norway or Sweden. Instead you buy a "quota", which is the right to take an animal. The quotas are based on ownership of land. As far as I understand, this is pretty much the standard across Europe.
A major difference in Scandinavia is that you can join hunts that will not penalize you for shooting trophy-class animals. In fact, we are trying to eliminate the red deer from this area, so shooting the biggest trophy red stag would be applauded by everyone who wasn't envious. Other places in Europe will charge you hundreds or thousands of Euros based on the antlers of the animal you shoot.
If you want to come and try your hand at a red stag in Norway, PM me. I can almost guarantee that you will be allowed to join a hunt. It's free for three days, or $200 for the whole season, but it requires some serious planning.
If you want to hunt moose and red stag in Sweden, you can join a hunt for $1500. That comes with a guarantee of a huge pile of meat. You won't be allowed to take that meat to the US, but I can try to help you sell it to offset the cost of your trip.
None of this includes the price of your flight.
