Live from the stand thread

Well I got skunked last night. I'm back in the blind, and I just botched a shot on a fox I've been waiting for.

Oh well, I have all night. Waxing gibbous this week.

The worst part now is how to get it down. I still want to have a stand there but I need to get that one down. Tried cutting sections off the bottom hoping it would just fall but it's wedged pretty good. I think i'm going to cut the strap on the stand and try to push/pull it down. It's a big tree though. 24-30" diameter at the bottom.

Finally got one. I spent a lot of time in the hooch waiting for them to come back. The new clip-on thermal made all the difference on this rainy night.

I’m a little jealous of those already “in the stand”, but I’ll survive as we’re just 9 days from Missouri opener. Good luck to all who are out, and keep those live from the stand pictures coming.

I'm walking in to my blind at 2 PM this afternoon. It's hot, so I will be sweating - and I'm taking body wipes and a change of clothes. This will be my first evening hunt. I hunted Saturday morning (opening day) and had two 10 points but not my target. I know for certain my target was there the evening before season opened. I have 3 people lined up to help if I stick him. He will go over a steep hill, and it will be a long night.

What crossbow do you use?

I use Ravin r29. I’ve had good success with Ravin arrow and titanium 2” mechanical.

Sounds like a good choice.

I’m already in early. If the wind were to shift another 10 degrees it wouldn’t be good. The beans here are brown and screaming to be harvested but my farmer said he would hold off a few more days.

Running that fine line between bad wind and ok wind is often times the recipe for success!

Good luck, is he still in velvet?
He was Friday night and I’ve not checked cams to know what has happened since then. My worst fear is that he has started shedding and does one of those week long disappearing acts like I’ve seen so many do.

Good luck Native!
