Live from the stand thread

I killed a old heavy 156 ten point 2 nights ago and my buddy killed a 160 tall ten point 100 yards away from where I shot mine last night. I hunted 1 hour and he hunted an hour and 1/2. I have my son tonight sitting in the luxury box with me on another farm so I hope we can get him a good one this evening. A little calmer than I like but after 2 inches of rain it was quiet getting in. Hunting a food plot

We combined the corn a couple weeks ago across the valley and I have food plots scattered through the bottom and on the opposite hillside we can see. This is also a pinch point between to big timbers that bucks constantly run back and forth between during the rut.......I guess we will see.

I have my son with me for a short sit tonight. We got here late so we are hunting the gun box blind so we don't disturb much but have good plots right in front of it. You can also see the box on the big plot we were in last night across the bottom. Got really warm and windy here so not expecting to see much.

Ended up being 2 does and 2 fawns bedded in the switch 60yds on front of me and 2 does bedded in the switch at the east end of the field, first time I've seen them use the switch for what I planned, found beds in there but never seen it before

Scott I feel like you are going to whack a good one there in the next week or so.

The trek to the swamp paid off tonight. Grunted in this guy with a big six. They were fighting for about 20 minutes before they came looking for me. Every Time I would grunt he would snort wheeze. Never had that happen before. The 6 found me first. He was about 20 yards when the big guy

finally got in the clear. 40 yard chip shot and then 4 hours to get him back. So worth it. He was the third biggest I had pics of but the other two have been missing for a while. Best hunt I have had. It was off a tv show. Even had a flock of turkeys in the mix. 5 years in on this habitat stuff and back to back great years. Super pumped right now. Won't be able to move tomorrow but so worth it.

Shoot one or two of them and deep fry the breast

IMG_20161028_153736.jpg IMG_20161028_171318.jpg Got out yesterday afternoon. Parked, got dressed and realized I left my quiver back in the barn ... @$%#!

15 minutes later I was finally all set after retrieving my quiver or arrows. Sate on the small ridge that extends out into the marsh. Set-up a decoy put in the food plot. Wind was dusting to 21-22 mph and temps in the 50s. Had one small 8 point come an check out the decoy. Had a nice 10 & 9 point chasing a doe out of the creek bottom about 100 yards from me, never came within range.

All of the activity was between 4 - 5:15 and then everything shut down. I think the wind was a real factor. Things look calmer for this afternoon.

3 deer one doe and I couldn't tell what the other 2 were, in for a couple hrs then back out
