I have thought of trying defensive baiting, but have not ever pulled the trigger( no pun intended). So what did you try and why do you consider it a failure?
Sorry you asked a question…what I have been doing the last four years is filling (2) 2000lb feeders in areas I don’t hunt around. First year I fed 11000 lbs of corn in 3 months. The next year I had a grain truck deliver 8000 lbs of protein. The last two years in an effort to save some cost I have been buying 13% protein cow feed. I keep them full from mid August to end of January. Like I said I don’t believe it has my intended purpose. Bucks are going to roam unfortunately.

How long is everyone hunting come mid nov? Just wondering how long I should sit out there this coming Friday evening (how early to get on stand), sat and maybe Sunday?

I can't speak for everyone else, but evenings are dead here. Skunked the last 2 nights (3:00 pm till dark) never even saw a deer. Deer here have been active until about 10:30 in the morning. Saw 11 deer this morning in total.

You guys that live on your land have it made for hunting. I’m 1 hour and 15 minutes away and it probably stops me from hunting 75% of the time.
In the same boat - just have to make it happen when we can! 1hour 45min for me

Had my first all day sit in my life today - wasn't too hard as I was super optimistic about the sit. We've been in the 40s and 50s here and today it dropped to 32. I was expected to see a lot of movement but only had a 2.5 year old 6 point and a spike. I think the bucks might be locked down in thick cover with does in heat. Pushes me harder to create a lot more cover in the off season

Yeah, things appear to have slowed down. Im thinking I’ll just hunt until 10am and then go back out at 3, unless I’m seeing lots, It’s been and odd year. Just closed the door on one in pa, but still trying to get one in Ohio

In my area the middle day cruising picks up towards the tail end of the rut which is right now. I'd hunt mornings in timber until 2pm and either move toward food for the afternoon or call it a day.

I had gotten to my stand late, because I had to work late. It left me about an hour to hunt. I had a decent buck come into the corner of my plot hot on a doe, she ran into the plot, then dashed back out, and the buck was hot on her tail. Thinking I missed my chance, I was bummed. Then the doe came darting across the other corner of my plot with the buck still on her tail, 75 plus yards, through an apple orchard. Then she turned around and darted across the center of my plot, and he was on her, I decided I would make a few grunt noises, and he stopped right in front of my camera for a quick pose before I let an arrow fly. So I got a nice before picture, and an after picture. This guy has been around all fall, but I haven’t seen him while in stand.
