Like Oaks and acorns

Smelly buck

A good 3 year old buck
Does anyone know when you should be able to see acorns on a live oak tree in zone 8 (N/W FL). These Live Oaks around here drive me crazy, they only produce about once in every 6 years or so. There great hunting when they do but It seems I'm always out there checking for acorns. Would be nice to know when I can just quit looking

We can see them pretty well in TN right now.

I am in south Mississippi and you should be able to see them now. The ones around here didn't produce last year at all. Not sure what to expect this year.

Here is what I found at a local park today. The acorns are just starting to show.

I can see them in Ohio right now, this year looks to be a thin season for them in my area.

I appreciate the input everyone, my tree aren't looking anything like that. Looks like another year with no acorns. I'm too close to the beach-poor soil.

Last fal lwas odd in that it was the first year I was really looking for live oak acorns for growing trees and the live oaks in my neighborhood, local parks, and all around town didn't produce a thing. We have a massive live oak at the entrance to our subdivision that usually drops tons of acorns and it don't drop a single acorn last year. The live oaks at the soccer fields 10 miles away dropped a bunch. Something happened last year during pollination and none around town were pollinated, but it didn't affect the oaks at the soccer field.

Maybe your oaks are behind or the acorns are too high up and too small to see right now. Wait another month and go look again. Hopefully they will surprise you and still produce enough for you to hunt over. Good luck.
