Had to pull these for the pic before the deer got them. We've already had several nights in the mid 20's, so they're eating them earlier than normal this year.
Planted in a mix with buckwheat, crimson clover, and winter peas. No fertilizer at planting, or afterwards.

They have been hammering mine for awhile now, I've sat a couple times where I can see these brassicas and they have been in there both times, part of it is down to dirt and bulbs no greens.
Mine were pretty for a while. Now they look like this. Firearm opener is the first weekend in November. I hope there's still some left. This is the first year planting them and the deer are putting a hurt on them already.
don't know what happened, but I don't have any globes under my plants, I think I got sent some other form of brasica, not one globe, ordered purple tops, but what I have is just big leafy greens with a thick green/ white root with no sign of a dang turnip. sure the deer are loving the greens, but I wanted globes for later on, and a few to go on the turkey table in a few weeks.

makes me mad, as it is NOT what I ordered, the deer are eating it now, but htere will be no late season use. what might be worse is I used 40 lbs of it at my N J place, and 40 at a paying customer's land as well, ordered at different times, but same place. grrrrr bit pissed I tell ya.
PTT and wheat. We should get our first light freeze of the season later this week so will be interesting to see how use might be affected. They've been pounding the wheat but have taken it easy on the turnips thus far.
