Gun Jet Spray gun question.

I use to have an aluminum SS43LAAL Gun Jet spray gun for my 225 gallon 3 point sprayer that I built. It was 13 inches long. I thought it worked well, but when it falls out of the holder and you drag it behind the tractor on a gravel road for a few miles (lets say 6 for example), there isn't really enough to even rebuild.

So I am about to order a replacement. The gun comes in 13 inches and 22 inches. Is there any advantage to one over the other. I can't really imagine why they make two lengths to be honest.

9 inchgun for guys with long arms, 13 with short arms?

While that is pretty good I am thinking that is not the answer. On a serious note, I have a pretty darn good sprayer and it will flat out push liquid through that 13 inch gun. I really have no idea why they make a 22 inch gun. It isn't going to change flow rate any.

Not sure the additional length will make a huge difference. But as far as use goes it might. Do you plan on using the gun one handed, or do you use both? Reason I ask is the shorter gun will be easier and less taxing on your wrist if your using it one handed. The additional weight and length will be more taxing if you're using it for a prolonged period of time. The longer one I would think would be best used 2 handed - with one hand up on the wand to help guide and support it.....I'm thinking more like how most use a pressure washer because of the force. That would be my only thoughts. I use a 13" and it does what I ask it to do. I can drive with one hand and spot spay with the other.....and even enough of that gets to be a bit much on the arm, shoulder and elbow (or maybe I'm just a puss!)

Oh my friend I am the biggest puss. I am almost embarrassed to say this but here is how I use mine. I sit inside the cab of a seven series John Deere and crack the window. From there I hold the 13 inch gun with one hand and spray the fruit trees while in a climate controlled environment and listening to my favorite music. I also normally have a beverage of choice and an assortment of snacks. I wasn't smart enough to plant my trees in one orchard. No I wanted to have several orchards to spread them out for the deer. Therefore, when you have to travel around a few thousand acres to spray 100 to 125 trees you want to do it in comfort. Okay, I will hold my head in shame the rest of the day.

And forgot to mention J-bird I think you are probably right that is the only logical reason for a longer gun. It would allow you to use it with two hands much easier. Thanks.

Wow.....I thought I was a puss! You even pee standing up? Hahahahahah!!!!! Nope no cab or AC on my little 790Deere. Maybe you should go with the 22incher.....to compensate!!!! Hahahahahah!!!! Just giving you a hard time..... I use my sprayer more for plots and spot spraying weeds and I tend to only spray my fruit trees when an issue arises.....maybe that's a dumb plan, but that's what I do.....at least for now.

J-Bird - no offense taken. I am crazy about my fruit trees. They get sprayed if I have any free time at all. The good thing about spraying trees out of a seven series Deere is it takes awhile before you have to even hold the gun up. You can rest it on the fender and spray down!

Ummmm....if your running a 7 series deere you got a whole lot more ponies than I do! At least 200hp if not more, maybe a lot more!! That is a significant machine. You could run over my little 790 and think you hit a speed bump! Hard to call a guy a puss when he is driving a machine like that! Maybe once you climb down from up there, but not until then!
