Was trying to burn a stump out using some old scrap lumber. Grabbed a couple boards and threw them on the fire and turned to grab a couple more and stopped just short of grabbing them when I saw I had an observer.

What kind of snake is that?

Tried to get greedy and get both. They smelled me before I got there and I had to run up to an opening for a single shot. My joints aint made for running anymore. First hog pics in months. High water has them pushed up.

One of my best all time shots. Was riding back from the hog hunt and saw a coon running down the trail. Again, one quick shot from the ranger at 150 yards. That is why you never get full windshield on SxS

let me correct - one of my luckiest shots - it was running down trail away from me. 😎

Who was holding your Coors Light while you made the shot?

Had to work on a feeder. Coons must have shook the wire loose. Critters dont pay much attention to you when u live on the place. Come right back

The blue eyed grass strong this year where the I killed out the nwsg

Also straightened a couple of apple trees and put in some limb spreaders. Also made a trip to town to pick up some more gly today

I had a bee hive the bees had starved to death in last summer that the wax moths had afterwards moved into and destroyed all the comb and made a miserable mess out of the hive. The week before our last big rainy period, a few bees had been checking it out and began cleaning it up. During the week of the big rains, the bees stopped coming. Also during that week I received a box of foundation from Dadant bee supply company so I could clean up the hive, get rid of the old ruined foundation, and replace with new. That box on the hive is the new foundation. About a week ago, the bees came back and started cleaning again. More and more bees showed up everyday. Yesterday, I was riding past one of my active hives and noticed hundreds of bees circling out in front of the hive and thought “those bees are getting ready to swarm”. That active hive is about a 1/4 mile from my house. This morning I rode by the active hive again and notice about half as many bees going in and out and thought they must have swarmed. Went on home, messed around, and grilled some lunch. A little while later, I heard bees where this abandoned hive has been sitting and walked around to look and there were thousands of bees around it and going in and out. As smart as bees can be sometimes, like cleaning their future house up two weeks before they move, I had to wonder when part of the swarm settled on my fruit tree sprayers full of insecticide that could have killed every last bee.

All that material on the hive porch and in front of the hive is what the bees removed from the hive.

At least I have plenty of spare foundation now.

What a great story

I have caught two swarms this year using some of the dirtiest ,nastiest old comb that I had laying around

they never cease to amaze and teach

Been working on making this five acre field a pollinator field - this will be the third year of effort. Mowing and a lot of spraying and one planting of pollinator seed mix. I still need to spray the johnson grass another time. Not sure if each species is a result of the planting or was already in the seed bank. Every week something new shows up.

My closest are 1/2 mile. I also have some about a 1 1/2 miles and some more six miles. Interestingly enough, our abandoned house converted to deer camp had a bee hive in eave 1/4 mile from pollinator field - circled in red - contractors would not go to work until removed. I tied myself off in a treestand safety harness and was going to remove and save the hive. After about forty stings through my pants and every tight spot in bee suit - and basically being confined to my homemade scaffold - I had to just sit there and take it. I lost my compassion for bees. The next four days I sprayed them with everything I thought would kill them. It took four days to get rid of them

Six months after we finished work, they were back. Been there ever since - ten years

Someone needs to study them and see how they are so chronic collapse disorder immune😎

The operator could have had some fun with that!

Had a similar situation years ago on a prior property. A small pond drain clogged, then when I cleared it, my culvert downstream clogged. That almost washed out my road the back of that property.

The operator was my son in law. Aint no way I was getting in there. I could just see a dunking coming

While my son is about six inches taller and outweighs my daughter by about 70 lbs - she thinks she can do anything he can do. Good thing her first shot was almost dead on with this .500 NE double - because she wouldnt be much for a follow up. At least she didnt hit the ground.

son said he thought she was gonna fall all the way and he was trying to get his rifle so it wouldnt get scratched if she did fall😎
