Fence project

My kids and I have built another 3/4 mile of fence over on the other farm since May. Two small water crossings had to be dealt with and we have built and hung 10 more gates on that property. We hung the last three gates today.

Had some black locust trees leaning over one of the old barns on the new farm several were already dead or dying we pulled them over with the track loader. The old barn isn’t great and needs some fetching up but it’s way cheaper on property taxes than a new one would cost me so I’m going to salvage all the old buildings on that farm I can.

Scored another large gear to add to my fence entrance on the new farm. I’m thinking this one will go on the other side of the driveway.

Pulling barbed wire three at a time this evening we strung 6 strands at about a 550’ pull this evening. We are replacing another 1/2 mile section of fence it’s the worst fence we have left. I should be able to switch to barn maintenance for a while after this section of fence is complete. IMG_1516.jpeg

Finished this section of fence today it’s ready for cattle. Glad that’s done not my favorite time year to build fence to hot. Did drop a burl willow tree next to the water gap we installed today I’ll bring it to the Amish to mill it into lumber for me never seen willow covered in burls like this tree before should hopefully be interesting lumber.

Finished that fence project yesterday and was working around the water gap had to remove a couple willow trees one was covered in burl wood can’t wait to get that one to sawmill to see what it produces for lumber!

Picked up another big gear last night to add to one of my property entrance gates this one is 32”x4” it came off a 60ton punch press broke the shaft off the machine the guy said I got it from.
