Elevated blind

I built a couple elevated platforms for the Maverick six shooter blinds, one at 4' and the other at 8'. The 4' blind is for my wife and my FIL for rifle hunting, I went with the Maverick because you can also bow hunt out of this pretty easy. The 4X4 leg brackets were made by a local dock builder and worked great. The platforms are 6'X 8' and 4' and 8' tall all treated wood.

I know someone will see the joists on the 8' platform and yes there will be 3 more added along with cross bracing, I wanted it a little lighter because of lack of help lifting. The 8 footer isn't put out yet.

I want to do something like that at about 20' one of these days.
Your leaf turn is a couple weeks ahead of NW Ohio, very scenic. I am getting so amped up for rut!

Looks great. When I built my elevated blind, I used deck boards (5/4") for the base. I wish I would have used plywood like you did. After the boards dried, there is ~1/4" of space between them. Lets lots of bugs in and cold air to boot!

My brother in law, who is mechanically handicapped, and only owns one bent screw driver likes to used caulk on everything.. It this case some silicone might actually work.

Not a bad idea. I was going to slide a piece of plywood under the blind. Caulk would be much easier.

I’m thinking about buying a couple of Maverick blinds next year as well. How do you like them?

I really haven't hunted out of it yet but putting it up was pretty straight forward. They are a lot more sturdy than I thought while they were apart, I added weather stripping where the 2 halfs come together and on the bottom for better seals. I added washer to decking screws to fasten it down to the platform. I also got all clear windows so I had to blacken out the back ones so you don't feel like your in a fish bowl. Lastly I misread the size and had the platforms built before getting the blinds, the blinds are 6'6" and I built the platforms 6'x8' so I had to add a couple little wings so I didn't have gaps. I think they'll be alright because I wanted them for both bow and rifle hunting.

We put this blind up on 9/27 it's more of a rifle blind but can be used for both rifle and archery. I didn't figure it would bother them too bad and pics show that.

Morning I see you're not here but I was.

This camera is set up a couple feet from our new blind.

Installed a new heater for the wife and FIL, all ready for 11/15

I salvaged a wooden deck with 5/4 boards and repurposed it as a blind platform. I had the same issue. I add carpet to my blind to silence movement, and it also stopped the bugs pretty well.
