5 year old buck +
I was in my Sportsmans condo SC-1 (small 4x4) elevated blind on 10 foot posts overlooking my tree plot last week. I only had my front window open and left side window open due to the wind coming from my right side and I was watching 3 does 25 yards away in the field directly in front of me. At 4:53 pm off to my right side I saw a Monster buck walking quickly with a limp probably 10 points maybe more , no way I could have opened the SC-1's window without him or the does noticing (they open out and make a slight popping sound where the plexi glass rubs) . I was hoping he'd go out by the does and I'd have a shot through the open front window. However he dipped into a cedar surrounded gully and I never saw him again. Now IF I had the window open or a better quality blind I probably could have got a shot off. I only saw him for 15 seconds or less, it's possible he never knew I was there. Hopefully he will come back , and use that travel route again as I have seen several other deer go down in this overgrown cedar gully with a spring , looks like it could have been a small pond years ago thats now overgrown with trees and cedars . My main lesson learned keep all my blinds windows open ! or step up to something better like a Redneck.
Odds are I blew my oppertunity and I'll never see that buck again , BUT I do have 6 more weeks to hunt.
I'll take a picture of the spot next time I hunt that stand.
