So first question I’ll answer - why so big. I’m going to be putting these in a couple locations that are going to be dynamite travel corridors. Think brushy swamp. It may be hard to sneak in the morning, so I plan to spend the night. As such I made them big enough to fit a cot in.

Plus I’ve got a pile of kids. I need someplace where they can lie down and relax (aka - eat Doritos and play on their iPads) during long hours in the blinds.

I don’t know that there is a significant cost savings with going that much smaller - might just have more wasted material.

10” of wood between those windows. Add curtains.

Looks great! Will be some great memories with the kids I’m sure!

Next question - Cost?

No solid answer. I had most of the materials laying around from other projects. What I didn’t have I found used on marketplace or resale store.

I did buy a some 2x4’s and some hardware - ouch.

I would say a rough estimate at $1500 - $2000 if I had to purchase all materials.

There’s a joke in there - but I’ll keep it PG LOL. Ya - that is a bit excessive. But I need to build the window frames an need a good spot for my T1-11 seam to attach to.

Next question: Time?

Maybe 30 hours of puttering around after work. I know a real carpenter could frame a house in 30 hours - but I’m not a real carpenter.

I did like that it kept me kind of connected to my property even when I wasn’t there (3 hours away)

Came here wondering why this was called a Stalingrad blind. I'm also a WWII buff.

Nice job.

That dog will hunt!

I like the overnight idea. You can blow out a lot of deer getting in and out.

My only nit pick would possibly be the windows. If it gets cold and moisture freezes you're asking for noise and ice/stuck when you open them to shoot. Otherwise, you've got a swamp chalet on your hands.

Looks good, make sure even with elevators you fasten down good as they will blow over even only 6ft off the ground.Leave part of one wall unpainted so you can write all the kills on the wall.Cheapest thing I found for rubber flooring is where you buy whatever size of stall mat off roll at farm store, this also works great in the bed of the UTV for bed liner

Sweet little spot.......

2 things. Some sort of blnds / curtains. You moving with the light behind you will bust a deer or two nearby...... I like to see the windows offset so theres wood behind you, not light.

Also, even though a small heater will keep the air in there warm, insulate the floor. That cold coming from the bottom will knaw at your feet. Some 1 inch R5, or carpet and foam underlayment.

I always build a padded shelf inside the window that I can place a rifle rest on, so never using the window itself as a rest, plus the shelf on the inside then can also be used to put binoculars, beverage, range finder and assorted like items
can build them so they fold down when not in use if wanted too,

Walmart sells a blackout curtain

Nu-way makes a good blind heater right here in America. I recommend putting in a damper for better efficiency. They're still great little stoves without one.

Blackout curtains and horse mats being installed when the blind is in place. Probably build some shelves as well. Also a coat of black paint on the interior. Going to try Vaseline on the windows to slide nice and quiet.

Unfortunately, I got the Covids this week - blind move has been delayed.

I’m in between the Nu-way and a small wood stove. Nu-way seems more convenient, but I think the wood stove might help with scent.

I’ve never hunted out of a blind. I don’t know how particular deer are with the maybe potentially limited scent from a blind. Im not going to hunt the blind in obvious wrong winds, but it is a rifle blind with shots from 100-300 yards
