Cuddelink general Q&A recommendations

if the card becomes corrupted either on its own or by the unit itself, it can lock up the unit and changing the card often fixes the issue. i advise this since its simple and easy to do and since you are a distance away from your network it might save you a trip or the hassle of sending it in for warranty evaluation . Speaking from experience , reformatting does work sometimes but there are times that a card cant be used since it continually causes issues. I prefer 16gb sandisk in mine but nay quality class 10 card should work.
It's my opinion the cards wear out over time. They may get bad sectors or something that the camera doesn't handle well. Across many brands, SD cards tend to be the biggest problem component. Some manufacturers have gone as far as building storage into their cell cameras. This likely eliminates the card issues from a support perspective.

I have an L series remote that works fine except it quit recognizing an external power source. Would changing the SD card correct that?

I had one that got cranky. I fiddled with the cables and the panel, and it started working again. Maybe try switching it to a different camera and see what happens. Could be camera, cable or panel.

likely not , try a reset/reboot in the camera, , but first take batteries out and then plug solar in to see if it powers up , make sure its not a bad panel battery or bad cable

This is actually a dual power bank. I put new batteries and a new cable. Do you mean a factory reset? I pulled the external and internal batteries last time and let it die. No dice.

then i would try a solar panel or another source with the L instead of the DPB, to insure the issue isnt with the DBP, i would use a solar on an L or a PW-001 -

Is there a way to test the output with a meter? Could you check the cable for continuity?

I moved a functioning pair G-5109 and G-5062. Turned them off, disconnected solar, hiked around. Set them up again, without solar. Link level is great (50 yards). It's been 22 hrs now, and no pics from the second camera.

The home camera is doing hourly time lapse as expected. The remote camera is set on time lapse to demonstrate functionality (which it ain't) and also should have several pics of me testing - I saw the flash go off. In Camp, the settings changes I've made for Home have implemented fine. Changes for the remote are still marked "pending". If things haven't sorted themselves out in 22 hrs, does that mean I have an issue? what to check first?
thanks...

if not back on the report after 24 hours or so, then you need to go to the camera and check your link settings to make sure all are correct. Run a link level and see what it shows . You can PM me yoru log in email and i can take a look if the remote is in device settings.

Thanks, John. I headed out 1 minute before your response. I found the second camera appeared functional, flashed at me as I approached, but when I opened it up to check settings it would only show a Battery Dead term. If I tried to scroll to OFF it would just show some number patterns. I pulled the batteries to reset, and still got Battery Dead. Put in a new set, waited to establish link (=99) and seems to have full functionality. Now it says "battery lo". It transferred a bunch of pics to Home, and then I got them on the app. So that's good.
Apparently the batteries were good enough to keep taking pics, but not enough to send pics HOME? and/or, the battery level reporting is off?
Like, look at the report. Link level 99 was definitely the new set-up, cuz the old up in the woods was 40. So it did communicate enough to say Link Level 99; 5 pics in que; "battery okay". Why show 'okay' on the report, and 'dead' on the screen?
I had them on solar for 7 months, then took it off when I moved the camera. I did not specifically check the batteries when I removed the solar. My bad. I'm leaving the solar panels off because I'm unfortunately doing surveillance for timber theft. First time I've ever tried to 'hide' my game cams. Usually I want them easier for me to find. All these camera issues are magnified cuz I'm using an extension ladder to set up 15' above ground, and struggling to get the aiming point right and etc. And worried about violence if the perp shows up while I'm setting cams.
Anyway, it's working fine now, and I hope to learn more about the battery reporting discrepancy. Thanks again for all your support.

@john volkman Someone in another thread wanted to know if there will be pricing impacts on Cuddeback/Cuddelink equipment due to current and anticipated tariffs. Can you comment?

Any thoughts or guidance on hanging cameras higher?

I want to be above the sight line of people and want to see if deer will be looking at my cameras. I am using low glow Cuddelink.

I experimented with this once, after trying everything to hide cams from the deer. no matter how i camo'd the cams (with leaves/hotglue, etc) the deer found them easily. as you all have prob experienced too, the cams generally don't freak my deer out, hell, sometimes they find it and come up and lick it. But, i was concerned about the deer i didn't get on camera, and maybe i was missing some good bucks.

first thing you'll need is some of those genie mounts, or, there's some posts on here where guys have made their own adjustable mounts for alot cheaper. i got a ladder out there and hung a couple of cams about 8' up. Have to have another person with you to walk thru the zone you want to cover, to see if the cam triggers. Set up 2 cams this way. End result after one season this way: got a few less pics, and nothing that i didn't have before. Very few small game pics, like turkeys, when i know they walked in the trigger zone. I'd heard the trigger zone is tighter when you mount them high, and I believe that to be true. Then i had to drag the ladder back out to service the cams. i didn't think it was worth the effort.
Note that I did this with my J cameras. I believe the L cams may have some adjustments to their trigger zone, and may work better.

you will restrict the amount of images you get when doing this, if its a priority , you need to aim it EXACTLY where the deer will be, imagine a laser beam coming out of the camera, the deer will need to cross that beam for a photo to be triggered. anything beyond or in front of it wont trigger the sensor. Level and thigh high is best for max images, if you do mount high , get a ptl mount and take some time aiming and testing it.

Ok- that totally makes sense. I am going to rethink this.

Glad I asked before I dragged a portable ladder through my timber1
