Just want to say, I updated my cameras from last year (8.0) to the most recent (8.3) and deployed yesterday, in the first 24 hours I'm pretty happy with things.
One issue I encountered upon camera deployment -- last year my system was a G cellular unit (no camera) and 6 J cameras with 6D battery packs, the the external 12D packs connected. Other than the lack of clear battery tracking this worked very well for me last year, no complaints. I put all my cameras in CuddeSafes not primarily for security, but because of the extra protection they provide from the elements. This year I bought 2 additional J cameras to add to the system, which came with the now-standard 4D packs. I also bought 2 new CuddeSafes for them.
The issue is, while the CuddeSafes don't appear to have changed in design, it appears the cord position on the 4D pack is significantly different than the 6D pack. One cannot get a 4D pack equipped camera to mount in the Safe because the cord connection position is higher than the cutout in the Safe than was the 6D. There is metal on the Safe in the way. You have to connect the cord before you slide it in the safe, I don't see a work-around to the positional interaction between the plug and the safe. Fortunately I had extra brackets with me and could mount the cameras naked for now. I will have to take a Dremel to my Safes and make the cord notch extend higher.
Is Cuddeback aware the 4D packs aren't compatible with the Safes, or am I missing something. I was in the middle of deployment so I didn't have everything in front of me, but I don't think the design of the Safes changed.
