I see there are 3 threads for these camera's, so I apologize if this is posted in the wrong thread.

I have a camera on Gen2 that is not getting any photos of the turkeys who are essentially dancing in front of it. The camera is anywhere from knee to waist high. There is a dust bowl directly in front of the camera. I have sat out in this plot and watched the turkeys dust and walk in front of the camera multiple times. It will pick myself up and deer, all day long. But I have yet to see it capture a single turkey. Any thoughts?

I don't have a solution...but I have one camera (out of 16) I am equally concerned about. Never get any pics off of it - not a one. One day this winter, I had it take a pic for me...to my surprise, all in the snow in front of it were a ton of tracks. Interested to see other people's thoughts on this too.

The other 15 cameras work great: turkey, deer, humans, cougars, skunks, cats/dogs, etc. And even the occasional bird.

if you do a walk test and it captures you at multiple ranges(5,10,15,20 ft ) and its low enough and aimed level it should easily detect turkeys. the camera works on heat and motion . I would say waist high can typically be to high for turkeys especially if they are close to the camera, hens(dusting as you suggested) and not in full strut, if you want increased sensitivity you can also swap out the fresnel lens to the #9004 lens, these are inexpensive and easy to swap out by taking the face of the camera off. If you do this you should expect to get more blank or false images at times because it increases the sensitivity quite a bit , you will also get images of animals at longer distances , sometimes far enough that you cant see detail one may want in the image. I use cameras to scout turkeys and follow these steps and get plenty of turkey images. IF you do a walk test and the camera doesn't detect you , its time to send it in for service or warranty.

you may want to pull that camera and test it, check settings and iff its not working send it in, this time of year is very slow and the turn around time is fast.

This turkey is standing next to the dust bowl. Birds pass through this field daily, yet this is the only photo we've received of a bird. At the same time, we capture deer out to the very edge of the field every day/night. Seen in the photo below. Any additional thoughts before sending it in? Seems to be very consistent with deer, but never birds.

i think sending it in is going to be wasting you time. i would make sure its level and lower it - if its sensing those deer at that range turkeys wont be an issue if its set correctly. Most dont realize how low a camera needs ot be to sense small animals and turkeys , i use mine for turkey scouting all the time and have no issues sensing turkeys if its set low enough and level or aimed correctly. Like i said earlier a 9004 lens will also make it more sensitive.

I just picked up 4 used J's and went looking to put the 6D pack on them only to find out they are not available any longer. The lady I spoke with at the cuddeback said the 4D was just as good as the 6D. That simply does not make sense to me but doesn't mean it's not right. I've found I can piece 4 of the 6D packs together if I buy from a few different suppliers.

I guess my question is, was she right? Are the 4D's just as good as the 6D's?

4d is better in the sense that all the external power sources are designed to work best with 4d internal, i replied to your PM as well . The 6d would give you longer life if you dont use external. I always recommend external to get the most out of Cuddelink.

Aiming downwards is the best. At least when a critter messes with your cam enough to make it do so. Will have to grab this one off the card.

How many images are taken when motion detected. I’m away from cameras but can check but pretty sure only had 2 settings for day and night in advance mode.

make sure you LED power is set to "Close" this will also give you the best image quality at night. If you have it set it close and its still washing out images you should actually tilt the camera down slightly but typically setting the LED to close eliminates washouts unless the animal is extremely close to the camera.

The only choices I have are Delay and Lapse. Shouldnt I be able to set how many pics take on motion detected?

no ,you cannot enable burst mode when in cuddelink mode , 1 image every 5 seconds based on motion is the shortest delay . The camera can only send the first image or 1 image every 5 seconds. you can run multiple images under surveillance but they will not be sent you will only get the first image.
