Crabapple timeline

Holy red batman!

It is time to pick the Rescue Crabs and see if I can salvage enough for a batch of applesauce.
Leaves & fruit look very clean. No DR problems, from the looks of the pic.

The guys and gals in Canada like Rescue crab. It must be awfully hardy.

I have a couple Canadian developed trees Novamac and Novaeasygro they are both on a dwarfing rootstock that I didn’t really care to have but wanted the verities to try and have had a difficult time finding them for sale. So far I like them but they are far from apple production being only on their second leaf at my place.

I have some fruit on my Novaeasygro. Hail damaged like everything else.

Sampled my first trailman from a bench graft I did 4 years ago. What a fantastic little eater! Also very impressed by how clean the tree and fruit have grown without any spray.

Also got my first fruit off a seedling Morse tree. Happens to be redfleshed. Opened up the core to see if seeds were brown and was very surprised to find red seeds. Fruit was very mealy and bland. I'm sure the deer won't mind though.

You could graft them over to a better rootstock if you end up liking them.

Yes that was my plan I ordered them on whatever rootstock I could just to get them and see if they would be a good fit for my location. I had a surprisingly hard time finding them to order.

Years ago, I tried to graft Trail and it failed. But I still have one Bilodeau is now identified as Trail. Maybe it is Bilodeau. Not sure.
I prefer Trailman over Trail.
