I picked Norland and Rescue today. A few Norlands are having a natural drop. I like both of these a bit early so they are slightly crisp.

Both trees are pretty much resting this year.

How's Rescue as an eater, Bur? I've seen it listed in a number of catalogs, and always wondered about the taste.

I planted the bare ground in my garden with radishes and turnips. Some turnips had been planted earlier around the vine crops.

Big Dog is right next to the garden and looks to have a good crop. No spray as you can tell.

I should just hunt out of the bedroom window.

Harvested some Trailman and Centennial today (along with a nice peach crop and a couple Pristines). First time trying Centennial, tasty little treat, but Trailman is still my favorite. Not many made it past the car ride home.

I need to get some trailman scion this winter and graft a couple. I just started planting some early dropping varieties this past year. I have a chestnut crab and a sweet dog. I heard chestnut crab is also a good eater.

There was a reason I passed on centennial at home. CAR maybe? See any disease issues? Planted courthouse today at camp. Might be the first one in the adirondacks. Put 4ft of growth on so far. Hope she lives, hole I dug was powder.

Courthouse is pretty much only a deer crab. I have eaten a few. Not very tasty.

I haven’t noticed any significant CAR on centennial.

One limb on Boris had fruit. They are juicy and sweet. Not crispy.

At camp its mainly for deer. Only exceptions is kerr, dolgo and antonovka seedlings not grafted and mn1734.

Twalter91 I have williams pride in the ground 2 years. Hear alot of good things about it. USDA says it doesn't like m111, but its on m111 and I grafted a copy on m111 for a coworker. Near a big patch of red cedar and still looks good.

Have you tasted Mn1734?

I have Williams Pride on m111, seems to be doing just fine without any spraying. I ate my first apple off it a week ago, seeds were slightly white still. Decent flavor, but kind of mealy and thick skinned. Reminded me of eating a red delicious but better tasting.

I was wondering the same thing for a couple years now. We have a MN 1734 at camp on Anty, but coons or crows get them before I - or anyone else at camp - had a chance to try any. I'd love to know how they taste.

I have a few apples on mine and hope to taste them this year.
Hoping to taste a few before the log skidder does......... Squatters rights dont apply on log leases....... I planted them on the edge of the swamp, probably the skdder cant touch it without getting stuck. Beavers might find it a nice snack.

You happen to notice when it bloomed and woke up? Any comparable other varieties time wise?

I didn’t pay enough attention . I have never worried about bloom period and didn’t know much about it’s significance. I have 3-4 types of flowering crabs and lots of seedlings that I just assumed there was plenty of pollen. I am referring to apples, not my dying franken pear.
