Conspiracy theorys, where do you stand?

. I lean left on 2 things mainly - environmental issues, because we only have one planet to live on ....... and workers' rights, because GOD knows working people from both parties have no highly-paid lobby in D.C. Just wait until the billionaires start slashing away at our Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. They get hundreds of millions in tax breaks ........ working folks get S.S. money taken out of their pockets via smaller checks, and higher premiums to pay out of pocket with less coverage. Call me names for sticking up for working folks - - - of either party. Maybe the multi-millionaire / billionaire class has it too hard??? More big tax breaks to ease their pain & suffering????

Funny enough, those issues are migrating to the right.

Environmentalism is perceived as left-wing because the fanatics on the left are hysterical and outspoken. The real conservationists are on the right. People who actually spend time in nature and understand it tend to be Republican. Democrats might go hiking or mountain biking on manicured trails, but that doesn't give them much of an understanding of nature and how it works. The difference is that Republican conservationists can do math, and they're not willing to sink the economy over bullshit pseudoscience and political browbeating. Look at Texas. They produce more green energy than any other state by far.

Workers rights has become more of a populist right-wing issue. The unions left the Democrats and started voting for Trump. Most of the billionaires are Democrats now.

Do we have jurisdiction in the Middle East where we go after jihadis? Designation of a terrorist organization gives us free reign if I’ve heard correctly

No, that's why the CIA operates a clandestine service. But like I said, the CIA is busy, and they aren't really concerned about drug overdoses.

Designation of a terrorist organization does not give anyone free reign. It just suspends the rights of the people associated with the group. It does not dissolve national sovereignty.

I’d say invading our country pretty well dissolves whatever rights a group has

That's just not correct. The US operates under rule of law. If it's important to you, you should call your senator and tell him it should be a priority:

I think what we are talking about is designating the cartels as terrorist orgs so the U.S. can take covert action in Mexico.

I won’t go into it but I think this may already be in process and I think it started awhile ago.

One other thing: CIA is mostly in the business of information collection to inform policy decisions. They are not in the business of law enforcement, and arresting people is usually considered counter productive to their mission. The way they collect information is not always admissible in court and therefore makes them incongruous with law enforcement.

So the next question is “is it a good idea for the U.S. to take covert action against the cartels in Mexico”. Well I can’t begin to answer that. Seems like it’s kind of a “sounds good” type deal but one that seems like it would have unintended consequences.

If they are a threat to the U.S. citizens and national security and undermining our laws, then extreme measures should be implemented to control and minimize their activities. As they operate outside of the US,, the focus should be threat elimination, not enforcement of laws. This could be accomplished with or without force.

Unintended consequences are usually the result of incompetent politically driven decisions. Just look at the past 4 years of trying to appease our enemies.

An appeaser is one who feeds the shark in the hope that they eat them last.

We have the hammer, time to go find some nails.

Yep, no problem. Fire away.

Is this good? This seems good.

What's good about it? Liberals say oil drilling bad, fracking bad, coal mining bad.. but mining lithium is good? Maybe we can make more batteries that can't be disposed of?

You prefer to be dependent on foreign countries including China for lithium?

As usual you miss the point....
I got your point, but you don't know anything about me so it isn't worth addressing your thinly veiled nonsense.

Lol doubtful. Can't answer the question so we'll just go to personal attacks

Definitely a good thing as lithium is used in batteries for cell phones, tablets, etc. The other biggie we need to find more of are rare earth minerals. China has too much control over mining of these and the market.
