Back up in this thread, you will see that I started some American persimmons from seed and then grafted them with Nikita's Gift scions. Nikita's Gift is a hybrid between American and Kaki. It is astringent and some say it drops from the tree. That is why I decided to experiment with it. It is unlike other persimmons I've worked with. It tends to form more of a bush than a tree. At any rate, I happened across one of them today when planting and noticed it produced its first persimmon in the field. Here is a pic:
I planted the seeds in the late spring of 2014. The graft was a bench graft in 2/28/2015. It was planted in the field 10/15/2015. That is very quick for an American persimmon but I don't know about the hybrids. This could just be a one-off. I have not seen any persimmons on any of the other ones done at the same time and there is only one persimmon on this tree (bush). Scrolling back to the top of this thread has the details.
