Alfalfa mixed with Orchard Grass

A friend of mine has alfalfa and orchard grass mixed. Besides mowing, what is the best way to control weeds in this. I've never grown either one and don't want to give him the wrong herbicide to use. Field is probably three years old now. Advice would be helpful.

Gotta ID weeds before you make a battle plan. Some are fairly simple to deal with and others can be a complicated nightmare, but you have to know exact what they are first.

And anytime that you have perennial grass and legumes mixed, it really cuts down on herbicide choices. But there are a lot of chemicals on the market and new ones always coming out. Once you identify the weeds then contact someone like Keystone Pest Control and ask their advice on chemicals. But even Keystone doesn't handle every herbicide, so more research may be needed.
