Cuddelink 2020 GEN 2 version

Yes I have tried formatting both cards. Formatted on the PC first then Formatted on the camera. I did not check to see if the camera created the folders or not. I will have to check that, but either way the camera is not working properly. I tried one of the same SD cards in a working J camera and it wrote pictures to this SD card, so I know the SD cards are good.

try a new sd card , if this doesnt work you need to send it in if its not writing to the card. often times cards are the cause of it not writing to the card. if the new or different card dont work tell them via email i recommended you send them both in for service. they should give you an ram at that point.

John V, I have traded a bunch of detailed email with support on what I tried, including new SD Cards. The discussions via email with support stopped on the support side last week. Waiting for them to agree to RMA but nothing yet.

pm me your contact info and the specific issues with your cameras.

John,

My cell cam came up this morning as offline. I got pics until yesterday evening and then they stopped. I waited until a bit ago and then thought to check via online what the status was on my cams. The home and all said offline.

I didn't do anything to cell cam. Haven't touched it for weeks. Any ideas?

Thanks

Willy,

Is it good or bad to have multiple links I have cameras that have 5 links but seems to have poor service although when set it’s above the 20 mark

less links is better and more efficient but the system is designed to operate with multiple links. I try to keep all mine at or below 2-3 . Centralizing you home unit can help with this.

i answered your pm

Raise your hand if you've driven out to your lease/property cause your cell unit went offline, and you were wondering if it got stolen. :emoji_hand_splayed:

Mine has been running for about 18 months and zero issues.

Are there any new updates or new camera releases that are in the works for 2021?

So far...no issues. Which is great, as my cameras are 1700 miles away.

nothing new for cameras as far as models. , i would be surprised if we didnt have a firmware update or two at some point. an app is in the works but a ways out. power options are streamlined now so that will make for a better experience for new users.

John, or anybody else, I'm having trouble with one of my sets of cuddelinks. A dual cell K and 4 J remotes. This is my best set of cuddelinks. I don't believe I've had any issues with them since I put them out a couple years ago. Anyway I took them down to move them to different property about 3 weeks ago. I used them at that property for about a week, then decided to move them back. I couldn't get back to that property until yesterday, so they had been sitting in the house turned off for a couple weeks. When I put them out, none of the remotes would link up to the cell. The cell stayed at 1 node, and the remotes couldn't give a number on the level test. Also the cell wouldn't send any pictures. It kept showing Cell TX, but they never came through. No report came through either and I had it set to 4 a day. I left them out and checked them today, but no change. I noticed there was an firmware update, so I took one remote and the cell back to the house to download it and see if that would help. I went from 8.1 to 8.3. That seemed to work. The cell starting sending pictures that it took (not the remote). Eventually, the cell showed 2 nodes and the level on the remote went to 99. Still no pictures from the remote though. I've had the remote take quite a few pictures in the last couple hours. They're on the memory card of the remote, but not the cell. Is there something I can do to get the network going again?

anytime you move a camera or turn it off after a long period you should run a cell test , this wakes it up and gets it connected to the server.
keep in mind , the cell cant receive images when its sending via cell so if you had it continually taking and sending the remote couldn't get the images to the cell unit. when you update to 8.3 you need to do a reset under tests this clears all the settings on the camera , when you do- the cell batch will go to default batch 12 hours.
all of the cameras need to be on 8.3 and when setting the channel make sure the second number is 17 or greater, an example would be channel 07 -20, or 10-25. When i do firmware updates i clear my sd cards as well. Run a cell test when you are have the cell set up. if you get success, then arm it and then do deploy one remote at a time.

I have a J cam with 4 D cells...how long should the batteries last? High energy rayovacs only lasted 30 days.
My K cam (6 D's) has gone over 100 days with the same type of batteries.

30-60 days max in most cases. its well worth adding the 6 d external booster to a 4 d camera. it will pay for itself very quickly, you will get 100-150 days on average on the external pack and then another 30-60 not he internal if needed. 6 ds outperform 4 ds since they are in sequence you get considerably more days per battery. The main reason why we went to all 4 d cameras is because the external power options work so much better with that configuration.

i also wanted to add, after you update and do the reset, its best to take batteries out let the lcd screen go blank and then put them back in and power up to set your channels and location numbers. this makes sure the firmware loads.

Update to anyone who has recently purchased a G5109 cell unit(just started shipping in october) , the units that have shipped to date are not locked, meaning you can use them as a home/camera without an active cell plan. They still can only be used as a home and only one will work in a network but they will operate as a home and take pics without a plan. This may change with future firmware updates so be aware that if you update in the future that ability may be gone. The cost of the cuddelink cell units is subsidized by the cell plan charges keeping the cost at a low entry retail.

Thanks for taking the time to reply today. The cell and remote I have handy are working great now. Tomorrow I'll take them back to the woods and update the other remotes to 8.3. Do i need to reset and remove the batteries each of these cameras as well?
