CPAP machines

try dreamwear here is a link of a guy on you tube showing what they look like.

Well, its 1-1-19 and I mentioned to a friend that my goal (not a resolution, those never last) for the new year was to come to terms with my CPAP. The friend recently reminded me and gave me the kick in the pants to get this thing figured out.

I've tried a bunch of different masks, had no success with any of them for a multitude of reasons. This fall I bought another mask by Philips - Respironics DreamWear Full Face Mask.1546398026243.png

I really like it compared to all the other masks I've tried, but I keep waking up with it removed from my face (hours later). So today I released my inner MacGyver and did a little modification to the way the straps work. There are little magnets at the end of the straps that "snap" into the mask in front of your mouth. They go on super easy, but come off just as easy.

They are now super glued in place (glue is drying as I type this) and I intend to use the velcro on the sides for on and off. I'm going to sew something to the end of the strap I intend to adjust when putting it on so it can't slip through the plastic clip.

Wish me luck, I can't imagine what it would be like to get a full night of rested sleep!

Have you tried the DreamWear under the nose nasal mask? I was using nasal pillows and they were causing irritation to the interior of my nose. I told this to my Apria CPAP advisor and she got me into this new mask. It goes over the nostrils and has head gear very similar to the mask in your picture except for the behind the ears and magnets parts. Good move to modify the mask to suit your needs.
I wish you all the best in finding a mask that fits and that you can wear each and every night. I am not exaggerating when I say that my CPAP machine saved my life and gives me a better quality of life daily!

Good luck!

Don’t give up, it really does get easier.

I've tried so many different masks I don't remember the name of all of them :emoji_unamused:

Well I made it a whopping 40 minutes last night. But that's 40 more than I got the day before.

AHI was 11.9 Looking forward to <5.

I'll give it another shot tonight :emoji_fingers_crossed:

If, when, you wake up. Reset it and start over. Sometimes a leaky mask turns up the pressure. Then it’s kind of hard to start there.

Day 2

1:06 with an AHI of 3.6!

I'm going to keep reporting here to shame myself into not giving up.

Good idea posting your results as it will get easier. The health benefits are well worth the effort.
I am able to keep my mouth shut when I sleep so it makes my mask choice easier. Now when I take a nap I put on my CPAP machine. As a long term user of 30+ years I can state that today's machines are light years ahead of the machines I used back in the day. Smaller, quieter, heated hoses and water containers and all the choices of masks are items that were not available when I first started using CPAP.

I am looking on Amazon and Ebay now and it looks like you can no longer buy the complete P10 mask there.

I just ordered what I think are all of the separate parts for the P10 on Amazon, can't wait to try it.

Too confusing to keep up with my obsession, so rather than Day X I'm going to report the actual day.

Friday night 1-4 I apparently started coming down with a cold. Only made it 23 minutes with an AHI of 2.5

Couldn't breath so I took 1-5 off.

My wife had a good point in that every time I try to use the machine I "get a cold". Today I burned everything I could with a stiff mix of bleach and water, then dish soap and water to get rid of the bleach smell.

I'm going to try again tonight.

I might not be very good at it, but I'm not giving up. Friend will kick me in the pants!

Should have mentioned that. I do the bleach/water thing every couple weeks. It makes a difference.
